A New Beginning
Secrets Revealed
Captain was sitting on his bed when I walked in.
“Hello again, Captain. Sorry, but that crazy lady out there wants to meet you.” I said
He looked up at me and replied as he got up from the bed. “I’d rather not.”
“You should have thought about that before you stuck your head out.” I said.
His brow furrowed, but he followed me into the living room nonetheless.
Instantly, Jenny turned on her “skank face” and shimmied over to Captain. He eyed her curiously, but otherwise didn’t seem to be under her spell.
-Steve’s POV-
“Hello, sir. I’m Jennifer, and I’m very pleased to meet you.” She smiled seductively and stuck her hand out for him to kiss it.
Instead of doing so, he simply took her hand and shook it.
“You too, ma’am” He replied politely.
Jenny’s smile faltered. “Well, handsome, what do you say to take this little lady out to dinner?”
He didn’t want to be rude, but at the same time, he didn’t want go out with the blonde woman.
He could clearly see she was pretty, but not his…type. Her hair wasn’t dark enough, nor was it wavy enough. Her eyes were dark enough. Her lips weren’t red enough. She just wasn’t beautiful in his eyes. At least, not like Peggy, or, as he’s starting to feel, like Alyssa.
He brought his eyes over to Alyssa and watched her for a moment. He could tell she was upset, it was clear on her face. Her brow was furrowed, and her eyes were almost complete slits. He didn’t enjoy seeing her like this.
He turned back to Jenny. “Sorry ma’am, I’m afraid I can’t. I’m under direct orders to stay here.” He smirked at Alyssa and she smiled faintly back.
Jenny attempted to act unaffected by this. “Oh, well. I wasn’t hungry anyway.” She stammered, and with that, she left.
-Alyssa’s POV-
“Wow,” I said. “No one ever turns Jenny down.” I grinned.
“I’m sorry if I hurt your friend, I just didn’t feel like going out.” He frowned.
“Oh, believe me, that was the most fun I’ve had all week. Jenny is far too arrogant, and you knocked her down a notch. Thank you for that.”
“You’re welcome…I think. Why does she behave that way, if I may ask?”
“Oh, she’s been that way ever since grade school. She was always the pretty one, the one guys wanted. I always stood there by the sidelines. She also has that annoying habit of stealing my crushes. That’s what she was trying to do with you-“ I tried to stop myself, but I knew he had heard me judging big his eyes became.
Oh. SHIT.
