First Impressions

I stared up at the young woman in front of me. She was biting her lip in concentration as she mixed some kind of medicinal paste. Her brown hair was loose around her shoulders, and she actually looked decent in the usually hideous, pale blue scrubs that all the nurses wore.

"Okay...this is going to hurt just a little. On the count of three?" She said quietly. I nodded and watched her get her tweezers. A bullet was lodged in my shoulder. I was guessing a police man had shot at me, not knowing who I was. "Okay. One, two--"

She suddenly yanked the bullet out with her tweezers on two. I gritted my teeth and breathed heavily. The brunette rubbed the paste she had prepared earlier over the wound quickly and bandaged it.

"Oh...ouch." I muttered. She looked up at me, her wide brown eyes meeting mine.

"I'm sorry. Did that hurt?" I nodded, but I understood why she had surprised me. "I'm Bethany, by the way. Bethany Banner."

I looked down at Bethany. Her hair was curly and dark, not unlike Bruce Banner's. When she looked back up at me, I noticed the glasses, olive skin, and dark eyes as well.

"Doctor Banner's...sister?" I asked. She let out a small 'mmhm', not looking up from the clipboard she was scratching at with a smiley-face pen.

Bethany was sitting on a countertop, one leg crossed over the other, as she wrote down various things on the clipboards. I had to wait in this room until she said I was free to go, and apparently she was going to stay in here. Obviously, it wasn't just my shoulder that had been injured in the fight. I had internal bleeding, a large burn on my stomach, and several broken ribs. I watched her as she pushed her small tortoise-shell glasses further up on her nose. She did look very similar to her brother. She was beautiful, I could admit that. She actually reminded me of Peggy, in a way. Oh...Peggy...

She wasn't dead. In the file they had given me, it showed that she was alive. And that she had gotten married, had children, grandchildren. With another man. That should have been me. That should have been our family. But it wasn't. It was her family, not mine. I didn't have a family.

Notes

Anyway, that was short and I apologize. But please comment I guess! I was a bit unsure of naming her Bethany, but it was the best I could think of! Hope you liked it!
