Miss Fire

I Was Shaking At The Knees

ONE MONTH LATER

Any way you want it, that’s the way you need it! Any way you want it, I sing on the top of my lungs as I dance around my apartment as I catch up on some much needed cleaning. Since my dinner with Tony, I’ve been busy working on Miss Fire without constant interruptions. My new agent is amazing, he’s really supportive too. And on top of me constantly working on the story, I’ve been spending time with Tony. Not like in a romantic way, just dinners and a few charity events. The press thinks something is up, but it’s a secret we’ll never tell.

Just as Any Way You Want It turns into The Final Countdown, there is a knock on the door. I put down my Swifter duster on the coffee table and head towards the door. A smile curves onto my lips when I look through the peephole and see Tony standing there.

“Europe, really?” He questions with a chuckle as I open the door. “I thought you listened to better music than this.”

“It’s my apartment cleaning soundtrack,” I begin to explain, “if I don’t have upbeat songs I’ll get bored and end up playing with things I find. I’m a five year old child at heart.”

“It still doesn’t explain why the fuck The Final Countdown is playing,” Tony smirks, “worse song ever!”

I just roll my eyes before walking into the apartment with him following behind; closing the door behind him. “Not that I don’t love seeing you,” I say, “but why are you here?”

“I was in the neighborhood and figured I’d stop by and pick on you,” he replies as he walks over to my iHome and changing the song to Thunderstruck. He looks up at me and smiles, “figured you should listen to a band that matches your shirt.” I shake my head and look down at the AC/DC going across my chest.

“You really have to stop looking at my boobs,” I tell him; a smirk plastered on my lips, “you’re not going to get anywhere near them.”

“You say that now, Hayes, but soon I’ll wear you down.” He informs me before plopping down onto my leather couch.

“You’ve been saying that for a month now,” I remind him as I sit down next to him, “still not worn down yet.”

“You say that now but tonight at the masquerade charity event, you’ll be thinking other wises.” He smirks.

“I never did agree to go, you know.” I point out. “Besides I planned on stay home and working on Miss Fire.”

“But it’s Halloween!” He whines, “you should be coming out with me tonight. I gave you a dress and mask for it and everything.”

“And you told me to think about it.” I remind him with a smirk. “I thought about it and I’m not going. My book is more important than being Tony Stark’s very sexy trophy for the evening.”

“Please!” He pouts, pulling out all the stops; fluttering of the eyelashes and glossing over his big brown eyes.

“I know you’re not used to getting told no,” I say, “but reeeally? You have to pout?” He continues to pout without saying a word, earning a groan from me. “FINE! I’ll go.”

“Yes!” He exclaims as he jumps from the couch, “I shall see you tonight my darling lady.” He says before leaning down and kissing my cheek then walking out of my apartment; closing the door behind him. I just roll my eyes and continue cleaning up my apartment. It’ll be a couple hours before I have to get ready for this thing…
