Loki Laufeyson And The Little Lost One
"I'm a... WHAT?!?!?!"
Kane woke with a start. Where... Suddenly, in a rush, she remembered everything. She put her head in her hands when she remembered her parents. "I could've saved them..." "No, you couldn't. Nothing can stop a Bilgesnipe." Kane sniffed and looked up. The man who rescued her was standing in the corner. "Get up." She glared for a minute, then looked away, muttering, "I can't. I'm paralyzed from the waist down." He laughed, a smooth, comforting laugh. "I know. Get up." She grunted, but made no move. "Fine. I'll tell you who I am and who you are, if you get. Up." Kane sighed. What harm could it be, right? She swung her legs over and stood up. "See?" She shrugged and looked down. She gasped and looked at her legs, and sat down hard on the bed. The man smiled and came to sit beside her. "I told you. Now, my name is Loki." Kane stared in disbelief, then, not meaning to, slapped him. He clutched his face, but said nothing. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean it! But... you were in New York. The reason I couldn't walk..." Loki waved his hand. "Never mind. You know who I am. But you don't know who you are." Kane was confused "What do you mean?" Loki turned to face her. His deep green eyes seemed to hold secrets, lot's of them, ones that he couldn't wait to tell and ones that he would never tell. "Your name... Isn't Kane. It's Eira." "What?! How do you know?!" Loki put his hand on her shoulder to calm her down. "I know because... I'm your father and I named you." Kane stared at him, then laughed cautiously. "You're... Funny..." She saw the look on his face and faltered to a stop. "You're serious... Aren't you..." He nodded grimly. "So.. I'm a goddess?" "Of nightmares and magic, yes." "NIGHTMARES?!?!?!?!?!?!" Loki chuckled at the look on her face. "It's alright, calm down. It's not that bad-" "NOT THAT BAD! Are you serious?!?!?! I'm only... Human!!!" She looked at the floor, confused and discouraged. "I can't be a goddess..." Suddenly, a bell sounded and Loki stood. "Time for the midday meal. Come on, let's get you something to eat." She stood and took a few steps, getting used to it. Then, she followed Loki down the hall.
When they got to the dining hall, Kane didn't have much time to look around before she was brought into the throng. "Lady Eira! Loki has told us about you!" She was slapped on the back and managed to grab onto the table before she fell. "Thanks..." She wasn't comfortable in large in large crowds. Suddenly, she felt a gentle but strong hand grab her wrist and pull her away. When she got out, she realized that she was outdoors. She looked back into the hall where there was boisterous laughter and clinking glasses. Then, Kane looked at the person who grabbed her. Her eyebrows raised when she saw it was... A woman. "I'm Sif. A warrior of Asgard. And I know you, Lady Eira." Kane rubbed the back of her neck. "Thanks. I, umm... I still have to get used being called Eira." Sif cocked her head. "What do you mean?" "Back home, my name was-" Suddenly, a sound like an alarm sounded. Sif looked at Kane, then ran off. "Wait! What do I do?" Loki ran to her side. "Alfheim is being attacked. Come with me!" Kane followed him confused.
Yep, kinda short again. The next chapter will be more action-filled, though! Thanks!
