A Hunter and A God

Moving On Up

With a final grunt, I sliced the alien scum in half before he could shoot me. I looked around at my fallen partners, scattered on the ground like discarded toys. They'll be missed dearly. They fought well...

"Simulation over."

I whipped off my helmet and sheathed my sword once again, satisfied with my results for the day. This time, I had managed to escape unscathed. Now if only I could just protect everyone. I had run that stupid simulator a good 36 times now, one for each day since S.H.I.E.L.D took me in. Against my will, might I add. New York was oddly similar to Cincinnati, though.

"Good job in there, Danes." Agent Coulson patted my shoulder. Naturally, I flinched and gritted my teeth. He should know by now that I hated being touched. It was a reaction I built up from childhood, but that's the past.

"You should really stop touching me or else I'll end up breaking your wrist, Coulson." I rolled my eyes.

"Actually, you'll be seeing a lot more of me. You're being transferred from the intel to the field. Congratulations." Phil smiled and patted my shoulder again just to test me.

I blinked and moved away from his hand before tilting my head. Hardly ever did I get the chance to do anything exciting, aside from my assassin and black market career. That was pretty fun. I had mainly small murder jobs. Exes, bad bosses, gang members. Only one was a police officer. Then I killed that one agent. Why did that have to happen? "So, what exactly am I doing now, hm?" I asked.

Without another word, Phil walked down the hall, so I followed. Like a sad little puppy at the heels of his master. We wove through people and exhausted agents. He gave acknowledging nods to some who said hi and I simply waved. I didn't know many people anyways. We eventually ended up in a hangar, where several jets were neatly parked in perfect line.

"You'll be taking one of these babies with myself and Director Fury to the Avengers Tower. You know them, right?" Coulson's voice sliced the echoing silence. Of course I knew the Avengers. You would have to live under a rock to not know them! I nodded at him and he handed me some files. "Read up on them, Agent, and be ready to fly tomorrow."

Notes

So yeah, short and slow introduction. I wrote this on my phone, but it was originally longer.
I'll try to update whenever I can ^^
