Finding Out A Few Things
I woke up the next morning, to find that Maddy was still sleeping in my arms, she hadn’t moved at all. And she actually seemed peaceful. I smiled, as I tried to gently shake her awake. She groaned, and she swatted at my hand. I laughed. I heard her say my name, then again. The first time it was with a smile, the second time, her forehead scrunched up in worry. She was having another nightmare; I had to wake her up this time. After a few tries, I managed to wake her up. Her green eyes were full of worry, and she also looked scared. When she saw me, she gave a sigh of relief.
“What’s wrong?” I asked her.
“I thought I lost you…” She said to me. I smiled.
“You won’t lose me, that easily…” I reassured her. She smiled, as she sat up. Her red hair messy and it was sticking to her face.
“So, are we going to go tell Nick and them about what I know?” She asked me. I nodded.
“So that they know what we may be up against…” I told her. She nodded. We both walked into our rooms, and got dressed. A few minutes later, Maddy still hadn’t come out of her room, and I feared the worst. I walked down the hall to her room, and opened the door. She was dressed, she was sitting cross legged on her bed; she was staring at something in her hands. I went in, and I sat beside her. I noticed that she had two things in her hand.
One was a note. It said, “Help…~A” I was confused by what the note meant, but Maddy was heartbroken by the note. The other thing that was in her hand was a necklace. The charm was in the shape of a crescent moon.
“Maddy…” I said, to her. She lifted her hair up, and placed on her head, and she turned to face me. Her eyes red from crying. That’s when I finally noticed it. She had the outline of the same crescent moon on her neck.
“When did that happen?” I asked her.
“Since my birth…” She said to me.
“But what does it mean?”
“It’s the mark of Artemis…the Goddess of the Hunt, wild animals, wilderness, childbirth, virginity, and the protector of young girls. She is also my mother. This necklace was made for her, she would never take it off unless she was in trouble…Since she sent me the necklace, and it obviously means that they are all in trouble…”
She began to trail off. “Mads…” I said to her. She snapped out of her trance. “We should go…” She said. I nodded, I took her hand, and we went out to the car, and we drove to the S.H.I.E.L.D helicopter pad, where I saw Natasha, Steve, Tony, and Bruce, all waiting for us. We all climbed into the helicopter, and we flew in silence to the base.
When we arrived there, Nick was waiting for us. We all sat around our table, and Nick played the same news bit from a few days before. Everyone else was shocked, except for Clint and I. When the clip was done, Nick turned back to us. “Everyone, everywhere, is blaming this all on the Greek Gods and Goddess’. They think that they are angry with something… or someone…”
Nick turned to face me, anger boiled in me. I hope that he was not blaming me for all this.
“I am not blaming you, and your family, Agent Carter…but we were hoping if you could help us out with this…” My anger calmed. “They are blaming the Gods because of how inhuman like the wounds are…” I thought of something.
“Nick…play the tape again…” I said. He was confused at my request, but he did play the tape again. I was watching the tape carefully. “Pause it!” I shouted. Nick paused it, and everyone looked at me like I had lost my mind. “Zoom in…” When it was zoomed in enough, I saw what I knew what I was going to see. “There!” I said. In the corner, of the shot, where they were bringing to kids out of the hole, there was the mark I was looking for. They zoomed in on what I was pointing at. They all saw it.
“What is that?” Nat asked. “It looks something like an hourglass…” Steve said.
“It’s a mark, of Chronos…” I said.
“And that means…?” Fury asked.
“The Titans have been released, from their prison in Tartarus…A God has released them from there prison..." I explained. Everyone gave me strange look.
“Wasn’t Chronos like a mighty titan or something like that…?” Tony asked me.
“HE IS A MIGHTY TITAN, AND THERE ARE 23 MORE OF THEM."
“Why are they up here?”
“They are here to start a war…” I said
“What’s wrong?” I asked her.
“I thought I lost you…” She said to me. I smiled.
