No More Tears

Always Love You

Walking down the hall with two guards in front and two guards behind you, it hits you. You're going to see Loki, after all this time, you're finally going to see the man you fell deeply in love with. How long has it been since you last saw Loki? You can't remember, maybe five or so years? It's been so long, you remember when Odin forbid everyone from seeing Loki. It broke your heart, you spent a year locked away in Loki's room. Frigga was the only one you allowed in, by the second year she was able to talk you into leaving the room. Since then, you dedicated every second of your days to taking care of everything that belonged to Loki. You took care of his horse, his room, his precious snakes and even went as far as to learn some magic.

“Wait here,” The guard's voice pulls you from your thoughts and you hide your shock seeing that your standing outside the doors of the dungeon. To be honest, you thought it was some kind of cruel joke that Odin was playing. When the guards banged on the door and told you to ready yourself for a trip to the dungeon, you wanted to spit in their faces and slam the door. Why you didn't? Something about the way the guard's looked at you, told you that their words were true. You still don't know why Odin, after all this time has decided to let you see Loki, but you're happy nonetheless. You didn't take long to get ready, Loki always liked it when you dressed simple. He wasn't one for flashy dresses and sparkling trinkets, unlike his brother Thor. “You may enter,” The guard's voice says and you bite your lip.

They open the doors and you meant with a winding staircase that sinks deep into the grounds core. Taking a deep breath, you step through the threshold and you notice right away that none of the guards make any move to follow after you. You fight back the urge to question them and bite your tongue. Slowly you walk down the steps, the walls lined by torches so you can see in the darkness. With each step your mind starts to wonder. A million questions fill your mind and you curse, maybe you should have dressed up a little or worn a dress that showed a bit more flesh? You falter in your steps and look down at your attire, wondering if Loki will like it...if he will still like you?

“Come on he's right down those steps...only five more,” you tell yourself and you're eyes widen. Loki is only five steps away from you and his cell, well knowing Odin, Loki is the last cell. “I'm coming Loki,” you whispers and force yourself down the last five steps. Your feet touch the stone floor and you blink, letting your eyes adjust to the sudden brightness of the dungeon. The walls are light by fire, but the cells themselves are filled with bright light and white walls. With shaking legs you walk farther into the dungeon, not once looking into any of the cells. It's like you're being pulled by some unknown force to one cell. You come to a stop, a little bit away from the sixth cell on right. The protruding wall blocks your view, but you know that it's Loki's cell.

Releasing a breath you didn't know you were holding, you take small and steady steps closer to the cell. A table comes into view, you see that there are a set of books neatly placed on top of it with a glass for decoration. The wall behind the table is made of glass just like the one you're now standing in front of and you see that the cell is a single unit made of stone and glass, putting Loki on display for everyone to see. Loki. There he lays on a bed, his back against the wall and a book in his hands. Your eyes rake over every inch of him, his hair has grown, he lost weight, his eyes are lifeless...he looks lifeless. An empty shell of the man you loved. A sob rips past your lips, shattering the silence and Loki's eyes are no longer in his book, but on you.

One, two, three times Loki blinks not believing that you are in front of him. “...It can't be,” Loki whispers, his lips hardly moving, but you hear him clearly.

“I-I'm here,” you stutter, tripping over your own tongue as you watch Loki. Something flickers in his eyes and the darkness fades being completely erased by love. The seemingly permanent frown on his thin lips, turns into a smile, his eyes crinkle a the edges and he has life. Before your very eyes Loki come back to life and tears spill from your eyes. “Loki!” you cry and run right up to his cell. Throwing his book to the side, Loki stand and rushes to you.

“Darling,” Loki breathes out, his breath fogging the glass as his eyes pierce your soul. “My love...” Loki tries to form words, but nothing comes out, his tongue incapable of expressing what he feels.

You laugh through your tears and smile, “I have missed you, my Prince,” you admit and Loki smiles softly.

“Speak again? Tell me anything you wish, just...just don't stop speaking,” Loki begs, hearing your voice is like the sweetest of tunes, it soothes the beast within him. You move to sit down on the steps and settle yourself in the corner so you can relax and still see Loki. Loki sits in the corner next to you, how you wish the glass would just disappear.

“Such sweet joy and hideous sorrow,” you mummer and Loki sends you a questioning gaze. “I am delighted, overjoyed to see you my love, but it pains me greatly to not be able to touch you. Here you sit, dangling before me like the sweetest of fruit on top of the highest of trees and here I am unable to climb because they have cut off my limbs and unable to fly because I was born without wings,” you conclude and Loki sighs resting his head on the glass as tears litter your face.

“Oh, my darling...” Loki touches the glass as if he is wiping away your tears. “Do not speak of such agony. Tell me the wonders of the last...How long have I been away?”

You wipe at your tears and clear your throat, “Five years, six in a fortnight,” you tell Loki and he nods his head.

“Time has seemed to forgot me and treated you with the most softest of touches,” Loki praises and you blush. “You have grown into a devilish flower, that I would like to tend to,” Loki purrs and you see the mischief in his sparkling emerald orbs.

“Fret not my Price,” you giggle and walk your fingers up the glass, “This flower waits for only your hands. No other touch would be so...”

“Pleasing?” Loki offers, his tone teasing and you blush a deeply. “To not tease me so, my pet. Tell me what has become of our world?” Loki asks and you spend hours telling him everything he has missed in the last five years. “Will you sing to me?”

You think of a song and smile softly, knowing just what to sing, “However far away, I will always love you. However long I stay, I will always love you. Whatever words I say, I will always love. I will always love.” Loki closes his eyes and listens to your voice. You stroke the glass as if you're running your fingers though his long, messy hair and your heart flutters. “Whenever I am alone...” you continue to sing and you watch the tears slip down Loki's face. The sound of footsteps echo and you know that your time with Loki is up. You pick yourself up off the steps and Loki stands as well, his eyes are glossy and bright.

You smile and press your lips to the glass, Loki ducks his head down and presses his lips right were your are. “No more tears, my Prince,” you whisper as you pull away from the glass. Loki nods his head and quickly wipes at his eyes, hiding any evidence of his tears.

“I love you,” Loki mummers with a cheeky smile and you laugh, hopping to hide your sadness that you have to leave.

“And I, you.” You give Loki one last glance as the guards come and take you away, looking over your shoulder. Loki kisses the tips of his fingers and presses them to the glass. Tears fill your eyes and you quickly look away, not allowing Loki to see any of your tears. “I love you,” you whisper and mutter a quick spell in your mind so that Loki will hear it.
