Freeze

The Vow

“I'm not done with you!” Loki growls and he reaches out grabbing hold of Cora's wrist in an iron like hold. Cora turns and goes to swing at Loki, but he sees it coming. Loki easily catches Cora's other hand and he glares at her. “Not today, darling,” Loki hisses and Cora whimpers feeling her wrists go numb. Loki smirks cocks his head to the side, “Not so tough now are we?” Loki taunts and Cora drops her gaze. Her eyes widen and she looks back up to Loki seeing his pale skin turning blue.

“L-Loki you're hurting me,” Cora grunts. “You're hurting me,” Cora repeats when Loki doesn't loosen his hold. Cora tries to pull her hands free from Loki's grasp, but she can't. He's holding her too tightly. “Loki!” Cora cries her voice breaking in fear and Loki's red eyes narrow.

“Do you hate me?” Loki asks, his voice low. Cora cries, her tears falling, she's scared, more scared for her life then she has ever been before. “Do you hate me?!” Loki yells, spit flying from his mouth.

“No!” Cora cries and Loki makes a tisking sound with his mouth.

“Lies,” he accuses and Cora shakes her head.

“No. No. No,” Cora whispers over and over.

“Enough!” Loki roared and just like that Cora's pleas were silent. Staring in front of him, Loki blinks rapidly. “C-Cora?” Loki's voice shakes as he stares at her. His breathing starts to become labored and he rips his hands off of Cora's wrists. His hands! Loki's eyes widen when he sees dark blue skin instead of pale white. His hands began to shake and Loki backs away from Cora's frozen body. He killed her...

The sound of doors being broken cuts through Loki's heartache and he turns around slowly. Standing in the door way two Frost Giants. They stare at Loki's blue skin and at the body encased in ice across from him. They are confused, but smirk nonetheless. “You're coming with us,” the larger of the two says and reaches out to grab Loki. Anger pumps through Loki's veins and with an abdominal cry, Loki attacks the two Frost Giants. He kills them with his bare hands and drops to the floor motionless. The sound of boots running fills the air.

“Cora?! Loki?!” Thor's voice rings out and he comes barreling into the room with the Warrior's Three and Lady Sif behind him.

“Oh no...” Sif's eyes widen and start to water when she sees Cora. “No...no,” she cries and Hogun wraps his arms around Sif, letting her cry.

“Brother...” Thor's voice is full of sorrow and he drops to the floor beside Loki.

“I-I was too late,” Loki whispers not once looking up from the floor.

“We will have our vengeance Brother. We will have our vengeance,” Thor vows, his body shaking in anger.

Odin had guards carry Cora's body to the healing room and Frigga followed close behind. Odin didn't know what to say or do. He never saw his son's look so distraught, not even when Loki found out about his true parentage. “My sons...” Odin sighed deeply and stoked his beard. “We mustn't lose hope. There is a chance that Cora will be okay,” he said and his words fell on deaf ears. With a sigh Odin left Cora's chambers and he said a silent prayer that Cora would be okay.

Thor stood up on shaky legs and he patted Loki on his shoulder, “Go to your room Brother,” Thor said before he swung Mjolnir and flew out the window. Right now Thor as well as Loki needed time alone. The Warrior's Three left some time ago and now Loki is the only one left in Cora's chambers. For once Loki listened to Thor, he picked himself up off the floor and headed to his chambers. Once inside his chambers, Loki looked around as if a ghost, everything seemed out of place, yet Loki knew everything was were it should. The only thing missing was Cora and Loki wasn't sure if she would ever come back. A book sat on a table and Loki picked it up, he read over the cover and smiled sadly. It was the first book he had ever let Cora borrow on magic.

Tears burned Loki's eyes, but he refused to let them fall. He would not cry, there was no point in crying if Cora was still alive. She had to be alive, Loki needed her to be alive. He had not been lying when he told her he could not lose her and now he just might have lost her. Loki sunk down to the floor with the book in his hands. He opened up to the first page and was greeted by notes all written by Cora. Loki's heart seemed to ache with each beat it made and he grabbed his chest, rubbing it roughly. Was this what death felt like? Loki wondered to himself, but he shook the through from his mind. Time seemed, but a memory now. Loki had lost track of how much time passed before Frigga came to him.

There was a light knock on his door before it opened, “Loki...” He heard it in her voice, the new he wished wasn't true. With tears in his eyes, Loki looked up from the floor at his mother, Queen Frigga. He saw the hesitation in her eyes, he saw the frown and the faint traces of running make up on her face. His heart stopped, he didn't need his mother to say anything, but his name; he really messed up this time and he can't take it back. With a flick of his wrist, Loki slammed the door in Frigga's face and like a ghost he seemed to move to his couch. Sitting down, Loki stared at nothing, his eyes unfocused and his mind raced with different thoughts, each one more grim then the one before.

'I killed her. I killed Cora...she died thinking I was a monster.' Balling his hand into a fist, Loki rested it on his temple. How could he have been so careless? Him, Loki, of all people? Tears bubbled to the surface and his lower lip trembled as one thought ran across his mind. 'She died fearing...me' “Oh, God,” Loki whispered mournfully and his tears fell from his eyes. He covered his face with his hands and cried, he sobbed, he cursed himself for ever being born, but above all else he cursed the God of Thunder, Thor. 'He will pay...they will all pay.'

Notes

Okay everyone this is it. This is the last chapter of Freeze. I never really planed for it to go on for so long. This was suppose to be a one-shot. Don't worry there is another story to come after this. It's called Long Gone, the link will be in the right hand corner shortly.

Staring in front of him, Loki blinks rapidly. “C-Cora?” Loki's voice shakes as he stares at her. His breathing starts to become labored and he rips his hands off of Cora's wrists.
