Conversation with Saoirse

Clint’s Point of View

I noticed when I was walking Saoirse to her room, she was quiet, and she seemed a bit nervous around all of us. We got to her room, and I opened the door for her. She stepped inside, and she looked around. Her eyes still filled with worry. I sat down on her bed, and I watched her. She turned to face me. “Saoirse…are you okay?” I asked her.

“Yeah…” She said, trying to lie. But I’m a spy, come on. I can tell if you’re lying.

“Saoirse…You’re not okay. I can tell. What’s bothering you?” I said, in a gentle tone. She sat down beside me, and she put her head in her hands.

“In that cage that they put me in, all I could think about was my life in the lab. Each day I was injected with a different serum, for them to see what it would do to me. They implanted my wings on me, and they wanted to see what I would eventually become. I became this……thing. An outcast. I was rejected everywhere, because of what I am. No one ever took the time to listen to me…You have no idea what it was like to fear for your life every night, hoping that you would live to see the next morning. Each day was a living hell, and coming in here, is so new for me, having people listen and understand me. Thanks for listening to me Clint; you really changed my life for me. Thank you…” She said to me.

“You’re welcome, you’re not a thing. You’re a person, and people can’t judge you before they know you. I promise you this though, people won’t judge you here. Okay, you’re not a science experiment here, you don’t have to go into any labs if you don’t want too. People aren’t going to do anything to you. You don’t have to fear for your life here. You will live to see the next morning, alright? Another thing, why did you seem so nervous around us?” I asked her.

“It’s not…it’s just…that…ever since the lab, I have had serious trust issues with people, so you really opened that up for me. It’s just really hard to learn to trust people after that experience…but thank you for everything…” She said. I smiled, she was starting to trust me…
