Little Girls

Born in 1929, Margaret Louise Barnes is only twelve years old when the light of her eye, her older brother Bucky, decides to enlist in the army and fight against Nazi Germany. Maggie is heartbroken when he leaves, even more so when she finds out he isn't coming back. Maggie tries to keep a positive attitude to help support the war effort, but without her older brother and his best friend Steve showing up to keep her smiling, every movement is becoming very, very hard.
By the time the war is ending, Maggie has lost an unimaginable amount. On her sixteenth birthday, she's nabbed from the diner where she sat and ate alone.
She's never found,and, being an orphan, the state pronounces her a lost cause and has a grave put down at the local cemetery.

Nearly 70 years later, a young girl is found freezing cold in an abandoned building. She is thought to be a drugged runaway, or maybe one of the many girls who go missing in the night. It is only when she is asked her birthday that S.H.I.E.L.D peaks an interest and brings her back to be carefully observed.
