Savior- A Tony Stark/ Ironman Love story

Tony looked at Clint in shock. Did he hear him right? He had been hired to kill her? “What? How? Why?”

Clint sat down on chair and continued his conversation with Tony. “It happened before SHIELD. When Mackenzie was a medical student, she witnessed her cousin’s murder on her family’s winery in France. It wasn’t found out until later that she had even seen it. When it was, I was brought in for cleanup. My job was to eliminate her and any other witnesses. I watched her from afar for quite a while, studying her routine trying to find the best time to make the kill. When the time came, I aimed and put my finger on the trigger. I watched her thru the scope and that when I saw her look up. Her eyes looking right at me and straight though my soul. I realized then couldn’t take her life and that I needed to protect her. Soon after, she left for the States so I followed her. I would run in to her at varies places, making small conversation. One thing lead to another and we started dating, fell in love and eventually became engaged. She was only contract I never finished. She never knew that I was an assassin until a few days before the wedding. It was Nick who knew who I was and confronted me. I explained to him that the same people who hired me were still after her and that she needed protection. He urged me to tell her or he would. So I told her everything knowing that I would lose her. After she left me, Nick came to me about SHIELD. My first assignment was to take out the people after Mackenzie. So I did.”

“Difference on value of life.” Tony said to himself.

“Even though I still love her, my relationship with her will be nothing more than what it is now. A close friendship. It’s what she wants and I have to accept it. It’s what we agreed on if I want to keep her in my life.” Clint said.

“JARVIS never came up with any of this.” Tony said.

“Of course not. Have you forgotten who we work for? Nick would do anything to protect Mackenzie and her sister.” Clint said.

“Why is Fury using SHIELD to protect them?” Tony asked.

“Because their father was a diplomat and like yours was also a founding member of SHIELD.” Clint replied.

“And she said she did not know what SHIELD was. Tony said.

“She doesn’t. Did you at first?” Clint replied.

“Good point. So there anything else I should know?” Tony asked.

“I understand her reasoning in not telling you. It is something she would rather forget, and seeing me again has brought everything back to the surface. She may have thought once you knew the truth, she would lose you and from what you said in the car that has already happened. ” Clint said

“I said it out of anger.” Tony said realizing how stupid he truly had been.

“I know but don’t be surprised if it takes a while for her to forgive you. You called her a lair. She hates being called that. So I recommend that you give her some time.” Clint said.
