The New Hero

Chapter 1
Steve and I were sitting around the fireplace, Rosie and Rosalinda were with Peter and Anna out back playing in the snow. It seemed like the perfect night, a little too perfect.
It was too perfect because I woke up in the same room I fell asleep in. Steve was still knocked out because of the sedative that Anna injected him with. I wasn’t sure how long I have been asleep because Anna was sitting right next to me asleep herself. I don’t know when she got here, or why she was here, but didn’t want to wake her. We both have been through a pretty tough week. It was only 1 minute after I noticed her, when Anna woke up.
“Has he waken up yet?” She asked me.
“Not since I woke up. Before that, I have no clue.” I responded.
“I woke up, but you both were sleeping.” Steve’s voice startled both Anna, and myself. I was happy that he didn’t wake up screaming in pain. I went up to him, and did something I didn’t think I would ever do. I kissed him. “Well, I think I might just have to get hurt more often if that’s my prize for still being alive.” He just laughed. I hope he isn’t for real.
“You better not. The girls, Anna, myself, and your team need you to live. Don’t go and put yourself in danger on purpose.” I said to him. I was glad that he was okay, but I had no clue how the girls were. I looked over at Anna, and she must have read my expression because she said
“Steve, your daughters are doing great. They are smiling and laughing. Do you want me and Brenda to go and get them so you can see them?” Steve nodded his head to indicate that he wanted to see them. Anna, and I went to go and get them, and brought them back to Steve. He was happy that they were happy to see him.
“You guys have gotten so big. I can’t believe it. I promise to be a better dad from here on out.” He told them.
“You are a good dad for keeping them safe. We can’t help it that so many villains’ are after us. We made it this far. The tower is still on lockdown, so we are safe.” I said. I told Steve that I was going to go and take a shower, then left. As I was leaving, I ran into Thor. He looked like he was in a rush.
“Thor, slow down. Whats wrong?” He just looked at me, worried. He kept thinking, ‘how am I to tell her this’ “Thor, what do you have to tell me?” I asked him.
“It is Steve. He is now being targeted by Doom and his Doombots. We must protect him at all costs.” He replied. Why did I have to ask?
