The New Hero
Chapter 8
Steve's Pov
After Hulk knocked a hole in the wall, I rushed up to Brenda and gave her a big hug.
"Don't ever do that again" I said right before an invisible force hit me, knocking me to the ground. I was trying not to black out, trying to get up when I heard it. BAM, BAM, BAM!!! Gun shots.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" Brenda! Brenda was just shot. I look over at her but she wasn't on the floor bleeding, Widow was.
"NOOOOOOO!" Anna screamed and ran right to her before she fell. Hulk turned back to Bruce and immediately went to Nat. How could she completely fall like that? Right then, Peter rushed in and ran straight to Anna. Anna excepted his outstretched arms, and cried.
"Clint, Anna is safe. I am going to check on this Edith Barton." I said into the communicator that Brenda brought with her.
"How is that son of mine?" Said a lady right behind me. I couldn't believe that she was the one that shot not only Anna, but Nat.
"What do you care? You were the one that faked your own death." I spat in her direction. Her face went from fake sincere to outright anger.
"I care because he is my son. And if he were here he would remember all of the good times when he was a boy. When I took him to the zoo. And the first time I took him to S.H.E.I.L.D." She said.
"You never did any of those things. You didn't even take Anna anywhere. Not only that, you would never have shot anyone. The woman you shot was my girlfriend. She was there because I asked her to be, she was more of a mother to Anna than you ever were." Clint spat at her through the communicator, and he sounded pissed off.
Brenda's Pov
Nat was shot, Bruce took her back to the tower, Anna is crying in Peters arms, and Clint is yelling at the woman who shot Nat. I was getting to pissed off that I didn't even know that I went into torch mode. I made my suit the same as Anna's, to cope with my flame ability.
"Steve, back away from the lady." I said. He looked over at me, and saw what happened. He back up instantly. I shot a fireball at her but it didn't hit her, it hit MJ. She immediately hit the floor engulfed in flames. She was screaming in pain. I threw another fireball, this time hitting my target. The same thing happened and I cooled off having got all of my anger out. I was going home.
