It Starts with a Spark

Chapter 14
“Did you kill her?” asks a reporter, shoving a microphone in my face.
“Kill her? God no! I just knocked her out. I don’t kill kids. Santa will deal with her.” I say as I crawl off of Veronica’s sleeping form. “Anyone got some muscle relaxers? Or some alcohol? Or both?” I ask.
“B-but you’re a hero.” The reporter says looking dumbfounded. I shake my head
“No my boyfriend is a hero, I’m just a normal human girl in a cape. Like Kick-Ass.” I say the reporter doesn’t get the reference.
“You mean you don’t possess any powers?” she asks,
“No. I possess only the power of sass and sarcasm, but everyone has those at their feet if they want to use them.” I say, as I try to limp over to Peter. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I’d like to check on my boyfriend. Make sure he’s alive and all.” I say. This is apparently not enough for the bimbo, because she follows me hounding me with questions.
“How can you be an Avenger if you have no powers? Are you really dating Spider-Man? Do you know his secret identity? Why are you in New York?” Even though this lady is annoying I shouldn’t have done what I did next.
I lunged for the lady, tackling her to the ground.
“I told you” I wrestle the microphone from her hands “to leave me alone.” I then proceed to beat her over the head with the microphone.
“What Red Hood means to say, is that she can’t answer any of those questions.” Steve says, as a silence falls over the crowd. Steve pulls me off the (completely fine) bimbo of a reporter. As he helps her up, (and she’s totaling laying her hurt on the thick). I’m collected by a few cookie-cutter S.H.E.I.L.D. agents.
“She should learn how to take a hint.” I grumble as I’m lead to a van, and we drive away leaving the burning park behind us.
