The D in Apartment 23

I'm an Avenger

"Oh hey guys what.. what um are you all doing here?" Peter asked, stumbling over his words from the surprise of seeing 3 Avengers stood at the door of someone he classed as an older sister.
"Peter right?" Steve asked smiling as Peter nodded. "I'm here for Bucky and these two have come for girl day with Harry." Steve filled him in frowning when he noticed Peter's expression change.
"She... she knows who you are?" He asked clearly worried that something happened he wasn't sure of. He might be just a teenager, and younger than Harry but he sure as hell would protect her from anything or anyone, even if that meant the Avengers.
"Yeah she does. You know about that?" Natasha stepped in, this time it was her turn to frown.
"Uh yeah Bucky asked me to keep checks on her." He confessed as the three of them looked at each other silently thinking about the same thing. "Is she answering?" He motioned to the door filling the awkward silence.
"No, we'll probably just leave it for another time." Natasha smiled as he raised his hand over the door frame.
"No need she's probably on her morning run hang on." He told them reaching further trying to find the key hidden up there. He noticed it was caught on a hook just out of his reach, glancing back at the three superheroes who were talking amongst themselves whilst Steve knocked on his best friends door, Peter used his web to grab the key before smiling and holding it up. "There you go." He smiled, turning to unlock the door oblivious to the fact that the three of them had just seen his little party trick.

They let themselves into the young doctors flat, Steve following because he had no answer from Bucky's place. "You sure she wont mind?" Steve asked cautiously, something felt off and he couldn't put his finger on it.
"Course not I do this all the time." Peter laughed walking into the kitchen and switching the coffee machine on, as the others walked further into the room. It was at that point that Wanda noticed Harry's running shoes by the door nudging Natasha and nodding to them.
"Uh guys I think we should leave." Natasha spoke out, hearing a soft giggle coming from the bathroom.
"She'll be home soon I promise, she always does this." Peter shouted from the kitchen. Natasha was about to open her mouth to tell them why when the bathroom door opened and out walked a naked Bucky walking backwards pulling a naked Harry along with him; their lips locked, skin touching and eyes only on each other they were completely oblivious to the audience that had gathered until they heard someone let out a high pitched scream. Harry's head whipped to the side quicker than Steve thought was possible to notice the group stood there, Peter's hand covering his mouth from letting out the scream.
"Oh shit!" She shouted, sounding more British than ever as she dived behind Bucky's body to hide her modesty. Bucky's hands quickly going to protect his own. "What what what what are you guys doing here? How did you get in?" She panted holding on to Bucky's muscular arms to stop him from moving suddenly.
"The key you always told me to use!" Peter tried to defend himself before anyone volunteered him as the culprit.
"Please go put some clothes on both of you!" Steve shouted looking anywhere but at the couple. They didn't need telling twice running towards her bedroom and quickly slipping on anything they can find.
"I can't believe you used me a shield!" He shouted at her as she laughed.
"Look I have two sections to hide you have one!" It was Harry's turn to defend herself causing Bucky to laugh.
"You owe me for that." He laughed, the three intruders listening as they heard the quick exchange of a kiss before the door opened, the now clothed couple entering the front room with their heads held low.

"So I'll see you tonight?" Bucky asked as he carried three of the six mugs that had been drained of coffee. "I mean can I please see you tonight, like as in we'll go out.. on a date?" He nervously laughed his metal hand going through his hair to try and calm himself down.
"Not tonight Barnes! You have to represent your failing bowling team at the final remember!" Natasha shouted from the kitchen counter as Bucky groaned out loudly, was there no privacy anywhere.
"Yeah you can't miss us girls beating your asses!" Wanda chimed with a smirk. "In fact why doesn't Harry come join the winning team, make up that space that we have spare." Wanda suggested looking over at Harry with a smile. Bucky looked down at Harry with a shrug and smile as she nodded slowly.
"Sure." She laughed as Wanda let out a yes.
"That's not fair! Clint can't make it, he's got a new baby remember!" Steve tried to protest earning a scoff from Natasha.
"We've been playing with one less member every week!" Natasha fired back as Steve struggled to come back with a witty response.
"Let's settle it, Peter what you doing tonight?" Wanda looked over at him with her eyebrows raised expectantly.
"Um homework?" He offered nervously as Bucky shook his head walking over to the teenager.
"Not tonight buddy, welcome to the team." Bucky smiled a toothy grin slapping the teenager on the back carefully.
"Come on team mate, we're going shopping and your coming too, don't want any conspiring going on between you two." Natasha smirked with a playful glare as she looked between the doctor and assassin.
"Come on Peter you can come hang with the winning team." Steve laughed as they all walked out of the apartment once they gathered their stuff.

Once they'd split into two groups it was time for the inevitable game of one sided twenty questions started. "So you and Bucky huh?" Natasha started as they worked round the second clothes shop, picking up items that caught their eyes. She was currently holding up a leather jacket as Harry was looking at black skinny jeans.
"It just sort of happened. I'm just glad he's back." She shrugged the blush difficult to hide.
"He must really care for you. I mean I know he was a ladies man back in the 40's, but, no matter how many people girls hit on him he just... well yeah." Natasha told her.
"He finds it difficult to trust people because of his arm and what he went through." Harry added, "but, I just I don't care about any of that. I care for him." She smiled placing the jeans back on the shelf.
"It's good. Steve has mentioned that he can see a change in him already and you have only been back for two days." Wanda waded in as she rejoined the group.
"I can't believe you did the deed though I mean I thought 40's guys were supposed to be gentleman. You know wine and dine?" Natasha laughed as Harry shoved her.
"It just happened okay?" She laughed continuing her trip around the other sections. "So what's the deal with bowling?" She asked curiously.
"Well it started as a stupid bet at a party then escalated. It's Girls v Boys and the losing team has to do a forfeit. So far we are winning 3 -2, if we win this one then we are the champions, if they win then it's sudden death and it's whoever gets a strike first." Wanda filled her in quickly.
"Who's the stronger player?" Harry asked smirking.
"It's a tie between Bruce and Bucky. Sam's pretty good too." Wanda asked her laughing when she noticed the cogs turning in Harry's head.
"In that case I better buy these jeans then." She grabbed the jeans that she knew would hug her figure perfectly laughing.
"Oh my god are you competitive?" Natasha asked laughing as Harry looked at the floor.
"Honestly it's so bad." She laughed with a blush.
"No it's good." Natasha laughed as they all walked to the cash register.

"So can we please talk about it?" Steve asked his best friend once they were alone in the kitchen.
"No." Bucky's quick answer came out, knowing full well Steve wouldn't take it as final.
"Buck this is a big step for you." He tried to reason with him. "I mean you always said that part of you died when you became him." Steve continued. "What made you change your mind?" He asked eyeing his best friend with disbelief.
"I'm still a guy Steve. 40's Bucky wouldn't get this questioning so why am I?" He asked.
"Because I know that is a load of rubbish. Come on man tell me." He tried again.
"Because I feel safe around her. I feel like I'm the cheeky flirty 40's man again. She makes me forget about everything and I love her. When I'm around her it's like she doesn't care about what I am, who I was or what I've done. She just cares about me. I never thought I could meet someone who could take the pain away and I finally have and I want the relationship Clint and Laura have. I want to take her to dinner and have nights in and ask her about her day and listen to her problems and show her off. I want her. She accepts me for me." He opened up feeling vulnerable, but that couldn't stop his smile from showing as he thought about her. "That's part of relationships." He shrugged.
"What you guys talking about in here?" Sam asked as him and Bruce walked in with the empty popcorn bowl.
"Guy stuff." Steve spoke quickly.
"Bowling." Bucky spoke out in unison with Steve as he closed his eyes realising they had been busted.
"You two wanna get your stories straight and try that one again?" Sam laughed filling the bowl back up. "Hint we won't believe the bowling story."
"It was nothing." Bucky shrugged his shoulder grabbing the can of coke from the fridge.
"Oh my god you had sex." Sam commented as the door of the fridge got slammed.
"How do you know!?" Bucky shouted as Sam's draw dropped that he had practically confirmed it.
"I'm an Avenger." Sam's response came with a shit-eating grin plastered on his face.
