The D in Apartment 23

“So um what are you guys doing this weekend?” Peter asked once Harry had left the room to take her phone call. He noticed all the Avengers look at him with a frown trying to second guess his motive. “You know with it being Harry’s birthday on Saturday?” Peter started off with a statement, but, the puzzled looks staring back at him made his voice a little higher and trail off in his usual questioning way.
“It's her birthday!” Wanda shouted out before apologising for her outburst.
“Yeah wait you guys didn't know?” Peter asked once again, this time his face filled with confusion.
“No.” Tony quickly answered for everyone. “But this sounds like something that a Stark party could handle.” He smirked as the rest of the group groaned out.
“Really you think Harry, our shy doctor friend would like one of your parties full of your drunken friends?” Natasha asked rolling her eyes.
“Well then we should go on vacation!” Tony pitched again, this time Sam clicking his fingers at how great that idea sounded.
“She hates flying and the last time she left the country with you she got shot.” Peter spoke out with his eyebrows raised. The next ten minutes were following by Tony throwing out the most ridiculous ideas all in which were rejected by one Avenger or another.
“Guys stop. I have something planned.” Bucky spoke out finally silencing the room.
“Wait hang up you have planned something…nice?” Natasha asked with a smirk and a wink when Bucky glared over at her.
“Yes. Something nice.” Bucky shot back at her as everyone looked surprised, even Steve.
“Can we know?” Steve asked, stopping when they heard her footsteps back. The room fell silent quickly as Harry frowned looking round at the big group.
“Sorry about that what you guys talking about?” She asked suspiciously, stepping over limbs to return to her seat on the floor in front of Bucky.
“Nothing.” Peter said far too quickly causing Tony to give him his world famous eye roll. Harry’s eyes shot over to look at the teenager, who had just confirmed her notion.
“Oh really? You just sat in silence for 25 minutes?” She asked as he nodded quickly, “okay.” She practically sang out of amusement, she watched Bucky shift uncomfortably at the side of her as she smirked.

Bucky thought back to the night when they all found out it was coming up to her birthday. He had been planning this for a few weeks now and he would be damned if any of the others were too spoil it. He knew the past year had been tough for Harry and the majority of that was his fault and he wanted a night where he could show her exactly how much she meant to him and to give her a normal, non-Avenging day. He heard her shower cut off and the excitement was quickly replaced by the nerves, maybe he should have ran this idea by Peter or Wanda and Widow, they know her best and at least he would have someone to blame if it didn't go right. He grabbed the plate of a freshly toasted bagel and steaming mug of coffee just as she walked out of the bathroom wearing an oversized Captain America top and a pair of black lace panties. “Really? I need to get my own tops made.” He commented as she threw him a smile, her eyebrows knitting together when she noticed his hair slicked back, his slacks and shirt.
“Why are you dressed like that?” She laughed dried her hair with the damp towel.
“Well I have a full day planned and I doubt my usual attire will be accepted in these places. Now come eat your breakfast.” He motioned to the plate as she furrowed her eyebrows more walking over to the table.
“Where you going?” She asked taking a seat on the chair he pulled out for her, her eyes watching him with a playful smile.
“Where we are going is a surprise.” He smiled sitting facing her eating his own bagel.
“Wait what we?” She questioned, “what's going on?”
“Look I've planned a normal day out for your birthday, will you stop with the twenty questions and just let me spoil you doll.” He laughed as she bit her lip with a smile.
“How’d you know it's my birthday?” she asked, her chuckle softening the glare he gave her.
“You have Facebook, why didn't you tell me?” He asked her this time.
“I hate celebrating them? I'm usually working.” She laughed taking a big bite of her bagel.

After they had finished their breakfast, Harry got dressed with the instruction of ‘wear something comfortable’ so opted for a cute little floral tea dress with her black laser cut flats, her long hair was styled into a messy bun and her make up was kept to her usual minimal, but, bright red lips. They were soon in Tony’s car heading in the direction Bucky had made sure to check was right. He noticed her keep glancing at him then looking away and after the third time he turned to meet her eyes. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Her high pitched voice filled the car as he raised an eyebrow at her. “Okay it's just weird I’m celebrating my birthday. Let alone celebrating it with somebody.” She shrugged her hand going to his knee. “Thank you.”
“Don't thank me yet. You don't even know where we are going.” He laughed just as the tourist sign came into view.
“No.” Her shock came out in her voice. “You’re taking me to a zoo?” Her face snapped in his direction and he could see the child like excitement in her face as he nodded laughing.
“I figured you would like to see some penguins.” He laughed as she nodded her hands covering her face to hide all the emotion rushing out. “Are you crying?” He tried to hide the amusement pulling the car to a stop as she nodded.
“I just really like animals.” She mumbled from behind her hands as he laughed more pulling her into a hug.
“Earning boyfriend points right here.” He whispered as she smacked his chest.

I tried something different for this chapter and the next with the little flashback, it is sort of a two parter so I will post both parts tonight. Thanks for sticking with this.

Also, all this talk about Infinity War is getting me too excited! :)
