Come As You Are

Nina

It all started the night that the Avengers and newly recruited Bucky had been invited to a charity auction in aid of the Valiant Foundation which aimed to help and prevent victims of war torn countries. Their founder Martin Allen was a business enemy of Tony Stark, making sure that his generosity was in front of the world media; and this auction was no exception. The team had to go to show support, especially given that Martin always made a point of issuing his relief team to any scene the Avengers had been involved in. They all stood there uncomfortably answering the questions of the media whilst desperately trying to walk to the bar. They all needed stiff drinks to get them through this horror of a night – even Steve was losing his patience. Bucky had already made it too the bar briefly considering going back to help his team move away, but, decided it was every man for themselves as he took a sip of his whiskey. He looked round the room trying to familiarise himself with everything when his eyes landed on the end of the bar where a 20 something girl had just reached. Something about her kept his attention; she was wearing a floor length navy blue gown, that had a sweetheart neckline. Her black hair was tied in a stylish bun with long drop earrings resting against her shoulders. She looked around waiting for the barman to notice her, eyes falling on Bucky where she gave him a soft smile with her painted red lips, the kind that made her eyes rise a little. Her attention was dragged away by a guy who took the spare space at the side of her as she looked at him with a forced smile, she laughed at one of his lame jokes before stepping closer to him; something the guy didn’t seem to mind. He told her another joke this time accompanying her laugh she placed her hand on his chest something the guy marvelled in not noticing it was Bucky who had her attention, causing Bucky to look away and quickly finish his drink motioning for another from the barman.

Steve had managed to re-join Bucky on his third drink, the mysterious girl was still talking with the same guy her glance often flicking to Bucky. “Hey man.” Steve smiled at him as he motioned to the barman for the same as his best friend. “That was torture.” Steve widened his eyes when he realised who had said that too, causing Bucky to let out a chuckle at Steve’s worried face.
“Why do you think I escaped?” He laughed as he noticed the girl lean into the guy like she was losing her balance. Bucky went to stand up to assist her when he noticed her hand slip from his inside pocket with a laminated card as she discarded it round her back.
“You know I’m just going to freshen up, these cocktails have a kick don’t they?” She laughed finishing the drink Bucky knew to be orange juice before winking at the guy and leaving. Bucky watched her carefully and noticed her going in the opposite direction of the restrooms, curiosity got the better of him. He wasn’t used to these situations and he much preferred excitement and thrill to snobby business do gooders.
“Steve I’ll be back in a minute.” Bucky told him throwing back his drink before heading off into the crowd he had seen her disappear in. He took an educated guess that she was heading for the heavily guarded door and quickly made his way there where he noticed her sitting at a table nearby. He smoothed his suit out and made his way over to her with a smile, she noticed him heading her way and for a moment he saw her smile falter.
“Hi there.” She smiled at Bucky, her cool blue grey eyes looking up at him through her long black eyelashes.
“I was wondering if you’d like this dance miss?” He asked her politely holding his hand out to her as she looked up at him with a small smirk.
“I don’t dance.” She retorted, as Bucky raised his eyebrows, choosing to bend down to whisper in her ear, instead of a louder voice.
“We both know that’s a lie. 2 guys you’ve danced with tonight, both of which have spotted you sitting alone and are making their way over here. Either you dance with me or one of them?” He whispered slowly allowing his breath to tickle the side of her neck; his lips rubbing against her lobe softly as she bit her bottom lip.
“A dance would be nice.” She smiled whispering on his lips as she took his hand, he quickly walked her to the dancefloor knowing Steve would be watching and would stop the others from interfering.

Once at the dancefloor he placed his hands on the small of her back pulling her close enough for him to feel the heat of her body through her dress. She eyed him suspiciously going along with it anyway, her hands resting on his shoulders, enjoying the closeness of his body to hers. “James.” He told her as she smiled swaying along with him.
“Nina.” She replied with a raised arched eyebrow.
“What are you doing here?” Bucky asked her whilst stroking his thumb over the naked small of her back feeling for the card but feeling nothing. He noticed her smirk as though she knew what he was looking for, and wasn’t finding.
“I’m here to help out a charity that does exceptional work. I’m hoping to win a few of the auction items.” She kept up her façade as though she was waiting for Bucky to give his game up. “How about yourself, James?”
“Work commitment.” He replied roughly, dipping her down a little bit hoping to in affect drop it out of her as she looked up at him with a smirk.
“This is the part where your supposed to kiss me.” She winked up at him as he leaned closer to her, she thought for sure he was calling her at her own game.
“I know you’re up to something.” He whispered on her lips before bringing her upright.
“I’m going to go freshen up, thanks for the dance.” She smirked smoothing down his crinkled tie before walking off from his grip. Bucky stood watching her for a few seconds before she had disappeared and that’s when he realised she had played him at his own game. She knew he’d seen her pickpocket the card and that’s why she was sat at a table. He stood on his tiptoes to see her quickly disappear through an un attended door.

He made his way across the dancefloor to reach the door she had gone through, stopping to talk to the occasional person who recognised him, his eyes never leaving the door however. He finally reached it to find no one around to stop him from slipping through, he quickly followed the long corridor in the only direction he could until he saw a flashlight light swinging around an office through the glass panel. He carefully made his way to the door, thankful he’d opted for a 3-piece black suit to offer him a bit of camouflage. He tried to pull the door open to find it had been locked; the head popped up from the floor behind the desk and he noticed her there. She gave him a quick wave before getting back to whatever it was she was doing. He knew he couldn’t break his way through because that would set an alarm off, quickly looking round to see if there were any vents that could help him gain access he spotted one a few meters away from the door. He sized it up wondering if his bulky stature could fit through it, after all he didn’t want to get caught stuck inside the thing, but it was too late she’d already opened the door. Bucky wasted no time in trapping her between his solid muscle wall and the reinforced glass. “What are you doing?” He asked her roughly as she smirked at him.
“Surveying the office space.” She smirked at him as she noticed his eyes turn dark; he didn’t trust her and she could see that plainly. “I reckon 950 per calendar month.” She pushed further as she tried to push past him, his metal hand grabbing her arm roughly pushing her up against the wall facing the office a little rougher then he should have.
“Don’t fuck with me. What were you doing in there?” His voice darker than his previous question. He noticed her look down at the cold metal hand keeping her in place and for a moment he’d forgot who he was, he was sure she was terrified, but, to his surprise she looked up at him with her smirk growing even bigger.
“I’d love to fuck with you, but, that’s going to have to wait, Bucky.” She smirked leaning up to kiss his neck causing him to lose his senses and grip giving her the chance to walk off. She had almost made it back to the door when Bucky caught up to her, he pushed her against the wall this time face first so that she couldn’t distract him with her eyes, her smirk, or, her lips. He heard her cough from the shock of it, quickly being replaced with a laugh.
“What did you take?” He asked her, his hands going to her waist feeling for anything that shouldn’t be there, his upper body keeping hers in place.
“Lower.” She smirked as he glared at her his hands running down the outside of her thighs. He almost got to her thigh holster when she stopped him. “Get off me.” She told him, and for the first time he heard panic in her voice. Thinking he had got to her he was about to carry on sliding his hands down when she spoke again. “Get off me because in ten seconds’ security’s coming through that door.” She warned him. “And this could look very compromising for you Winter Soldier.” She used the name he despised, but, did as she said. He was looking for a way out for them both, but, she had other plans; quickly grabbing him to her she jumped up wrapping her legs around his waist causing him to stumble forward to stop him from dropping her. She was grateful she opted for the high split dress that gave her the freedom to be in such a position, quickly undoing a few of his buttons and sliding the tie down; she ran her fingers through his hair tugging at it as she quickly pulled him into a deep kiss ensuring her lipstick smeared just as the doors busted open. She let out a moan as Bucky’s hands gripped her ass tightly, pulling away panting she screamed an innocent scream when she noticed the men stood there with a gun pointing at them both.
“Oh my god please don’t shoot.” She cried holding her hands up sliding down off Bucky as the security eyed them both. “Please it’s my birthday, we were just looking for a sneaky place to you know.” She shrugged going bright red, “Tick it off our list. We’ve already done the shower and the car. Oh my god why am I telling you this.” Her cheeks going even redder as she covered her hands over her face.
“Leave both of you.” The main guy spoke putting his gun down, the others following suit. She quickly grabbed Bucky’s metal hand that had just finished doing his buttons up, giving her a chance to hide it and pulled him out and back to the dancefloor.

“Thanks.” She told him with a smirk grabbing a tissue off one of the tables and passing it too him to wipe the lipstick off him, doing the same herself. “Not bad for someone who has been frozen for many years. See you around Bucky.” She winked walking off quickly, Bucky deciding not to follow her.

Notes

Hi guys!

I know I've been rubbish at updating my other stories, but, I've just had no motivation at all so thought I would try a new one to get me back into it. I've actually nearly finished the whole of this and debated for a while whether to post it or not.

Hope you like it! :)
