The End is Where We Begin

I'm A Beast I Came To Rip This Spot Up

“Well, she’s telling the truth about the software.” Fury tells me after I report to him, telling him everything Jessica has told me, “That’s kind of why I’ve been keeping an eye on her.”

“She was just caught with him, wasn’t she?” I ask, “She didn’t have anything to do with the development.”

“She has everything to do with the development of the virus, she was one of the creators.” Fury explains, causing my eyes to widen. “She didn’t tell you that now did she?”

“She must have been a first or second year student when they created the virus, can a newer student create that kind of program?” I ask, dumbfounded. “There is no way a kid can create that sort of thing.”

“It all depends on her upbringing and her level of intellect.” Stark says, coming into the room, “Plus having really great teachers does help.” He chuckles, “She went to MIT right?”

“Yes, she went to MIT.” Fury replies, “Can you tell us if a student can produce such a virus that could cut all communications?”

“I’d have to meet this girl.” Stark says, “But I wouldn’t put it past a genius to create something of this magnitude; even if she had no knowledge of what she was doing.”

“You’re saying she was in the wrong place at the right time?” I ask him.

“Maybe.” Stark shrugs, “But maybe not.”

“Barton, where is the girl?” Fury demands.

“Training with Natasha.” I reply, “I had her go into basic training after she was finished hacking all the systems.”

“She hacked all the systems?” Stark asks, sounding impressed, “I’ve got to meet this girl.”

“And you will.” Fury says before turning towards Hill, “Fetch the girl and Agent Romanoff.”

**

Stark and I are sitting in the conference room with Fury for twenty minutes before Hill walks into the room with Agent Hill and Natasha.

“Where’s the girl?” Fury demands, “Don’t tell me you lost her!”

Before either agent can reply Jessie walks into the room, “Easier there Director, I just went to get something to drink.” She informs him, holding up a bottle of water. I look over at Stark and his eyes are wide.

“Jessie!?” He questions the tiny blonde.

She looks at him and her eyes widen, “Uncle Tony?”

“Uncle Tony?” The rest of us question as the two stare at each other.

“Your father told me you were dead.” He mutters as he springs over to the girl and pulling her into a hug, “Said you died while you were in Mexico on Spring Break.”

“I’m dead to him.” She croaks, “I got kicked out of MIT.”

He quickly pushes her away and looks at her, “You’re the one that created the virus?”

“I didn’t know what I was doing at the time.” She cries, “I had no idea until the teachers caught me. I thought we were just doing it for a school project; I had no idea they really wanted to wipe out the world’s communications.” Tony just stood there, completely stunned. “You know me, Uncle Tony. You know I wouldn’t harm anyone.” He remains quiet before pulling her back into another hug. The rest of us remain quiet. None of us are sure what to say. Seeing both of them this vulnerable is something new.

**

“It’s safe to assume you guys know each to each.” I state once everyone got settled.

“I’m her godfather. Her dad and I were friends in college.” Tony replies. “Great friends actually.”

“Uncle Tony is the reason why I even got into MIT; he pushed me to be the best.” Jessie adds on, “I tried calling you after I got kicked out, but I knew if I ran to you my father would flip out and tell you a bunch of lies.”

“You know I would have helped you, you didn’t have to become this master hacker.” Tony sincerely say.

“I know, I didn’t think.” Jessie mutters, putting her head down to advert her eyes from Tony’s.

“Jessie, do you think this virus could be as dangerous as people have been saying?” Fury asks, causing Jessie to snap her head up.

“The virus got out?” She asks in a terrified tone.

“That’s the reason why you’re here.” Natasha replies, “You’re here to find out where the source of the virus is and to destroy it.”

“It’s been two years since I’ve seen the program, “She explains, “They could have done so much to it that I won’t even recognize it.”

“But could you crack it?” I ask her.

She looks up at me with a smirk on her lips, “Of course…”
