Savior- A Tony Stark/ Ironman Love story

I get it, I really do.

Mack had fallen asleep during the ride to the quinjet. She was awaken when she felt a gentle shake and a soft voice saying “Wake up sleepyhead.” She opened her eyes to find Clint holding the door open for her. Mack rubbed her arms as climbed out of the car to come face to face with Clint. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders. Then picked her up, held her close to his chest and started walking toward the jet.

“I can walk, you know.” Mack said

“Yeah, but this is more fun.” He smiled as he nodded behind him. Mack looked over his shoulder to see Tony walking behind them, giving a glare could shoot daggers.

“He’s looks like he might be jealous.” Mack said softly.

“Don’t know why? However we could test your theory. ” Clint said chucking.

“How?” Mack asked.

“I could kiss you.” He said smiling.

“You’re so bad.” Mack laughed and slugged him on the arm then relaxed in his arms. “Thank you, for saving my life- again."

“No problem sweetheart. That’s what I do. But from what I hear you had a good start. I take it you are still boxing?” He asked.

“Every other day. Still practicing what you taught me.” Mack replied.

“Glad to hear that. Told you that it would save your life someday.” Clint said. Then he stopped and adjusted his grip on Mack then continued walking. “You’re heavier that I remember.” He joked.

“Hey! Don’t you know that teasing a woman about her weight can have deadly consequences?”

“You look beautiful tonight, by the way.” He said.

“Now you’re just trying to suck up. But thank you.” She blushed. She looked back at Tony who now was looking down toward the ground.

“I love him.” She quietly told Clint.

“I know. He’ll come around and If his doesn’t, my offer still stands” He joked.

“I don’t know. I have never seen him this way.”

“Well, it not every day that you find out that your girlfriend was engaged to one of a close friend.” He looked at Mack and saw the worry in her eyes.

Clint stopped at the entrance of the jet. “I’m going put you down now. Go on up and find a seat. I need to do a preflight check.” He said smiling.

Mack walked up the stairs with Tony following right behind her. She sat down and strapped herself in and Tony followed suit. She laid her head back and closed her eyes, soon she felt Tony watching her. She took a deep breath and said with a calmness to her voice, “I get it Tony, I really do. I understand why you are pushing me away. You’re scared. Everything that you are afraid of is happening again. You feel that you are going to let everyone you care about down. I really do understand. I feel that way every time I go into surgery. Because that person on the table is counting on me literally with their life, and I don’t want to let them or their family down. But I put my fear aside and just do it. You’re not going to let your friends, your team down.”

“How would you know?” He asked.

“Because Tony, even though you may not want me by your side, I won’t let you.” She replied.
