Savior- A Tony Stark/ Ironman Love story

Tony was ushered to the viewing room that overlooked the operating room. As he took a seat he saw a young girl around the age of 9 being wheeled into the O.R along with a small cooler. Soon after Mack and another doctor enter the OR in surgical scrubs. Mack went to talk to the young girl and soon he saw the fear in the girls eyes subside and close. He watched as Mack said a few words and had everyone’s attention. Soon he heard music playing from the room. He chuckled at the selection. Metallica’s S&M Album. He would have never thought that she was a metal head. He saw the staff moving around and watched as one the nurses grab the small cooler and open it, pulling out the item that it contained. He gasped. It was a child’s heart. It finally hit him, Mack just wasn’t any cardiologist. Her specialty was heart transplants.

Tony stayed and observed most of the surgery. Watching Mack had become his new favorite hobby. He studied the way she moved, how graceful her hands were as she handled the tools that she used, how she commanded the operating room. He paid attention and noticed that faces she made when she was baffled, concentrating, satisfied and how she would move her head to the music when her one of her favorite songs were playing. Before he knew it, several hours had gone by and Mack was finished with surgery. Tony made his way to the waiting room.

A couple hours later.
Mack was just finishing up writing on the chart for her patient, when she thought a cup of coffee was in order. She had been up for over 27 hours and was exhausted. She headed to the vending machine in the waiting room when she saw Tony sleeping on one of the chairs. He stayed. A small smile came across her face. She walked over to him and sat on the table in front of him. She gently placed a hand on his leg and softly shook him to wake him up. Tony stirred and looked around the room finally his eyes setting on her, remembering where he was and why.

“Hey.” She softly smiled at him

“Hey.” He muttered.

“I’m surprised your still here.” She said to him.

“I said I wasn’t leaving, beside I made a promise.” He simply stated.

“You’re very persistent, Tony” She said gently.

“You have no Idea. What time is it any way?” He asked.

“Almost noon.” She answered.

“How long have you been up?” He asked concerned.
“Just over 27 hours. I can’t leave for at least a couple of hours. Until she out of the danger zone.”

Tony nodded understand what Mack just said. “I’ll wait. Come on, I’ll buy you a cup of coffee.”

Tony bought them both coffee from the café. They sat down at a table across from one another.
“I have a confession.” Tony told her.

“And what would that be?” She asked.

“You were right, what you said.” He replied.

“What was that?” She asked.

“When you said all I wanted to do was to sleep with you last night. You were right.” He replied.

“I see.” She said.

“But I don’t now. I mean I do, but I want to get to know you also. You intrigue me Mack, I don’t want this, us, be a onetime thing.

“Us?” She said. “Tony there isn’t an us and I don’t think there can ever be.”

“Why?” He asked her.

“Well there are a couple of reasons actually. First one, well, the past relationship you had with my best friend Pepper. The second is a bit more complicated.” She said.

“Why’s that?” He asked her.

“I’m your employee.” She said.

His eyes widen in surprise looking for an explanation. “I thought you were a doctor here at the hospital?

“I am but I also work for Elkon Research. I don’t date those I work for.”

“Well then you’re fired.” He smirked.

“Yeah, that’s a real good way to get me to date you.” She said sarcastically as she rolled her eyes and rubbed her forehead.

“You ok?” he asked concerned.

“Just tired and the coffee isn’t kicking in.” She replied.

“Well since I’m your boss, I’m going to give you the next couple of days off. He said with a smile.

“That’s very generous of you Mr. Stark.” She laughed. Just then Mack’s pager went off. She took it out of her pocket and looked at it and smiled. Tony fell in love with that smile.
“Looks like she awake.” She said.
