Goddess of Deception

We arrive back in the palace in Asgard. Loki in chains

Frigga runs over

“Thor, Runa” She said hugging us

“Loki…” She said disappointed but still hugs him

“Hello, Mother. Have I made you proud?” Loki said

“Please, don't make this worse,” Frigga said

“Define "worse," Loki said

“Enough! I will speak to the prisoner alone.” Odin commanded

Frigga leaves. Thor and I walk out

“What are we going to do with the Tesseract?” I asked Thor

“It’s going to be placed in Odin’s great vault, where it will not fall into the wrong hands again,” Thor said

“Where is Loki going to be held?” I asked

“In the dungeons under the palace. It is where all the enemies of the nine realms are imprisoned.” Thor said

Thor leaves to bring the Tesseract to Heimdall. I have a sharp pain in my side.

“Agh,” I said grabbing my side

“You need to go to the healers,” Frigga said bringing me to the healing room

I am healed, but it left a pretty rad scar on my side to add to my collection.

*Weeks Later*

I mourn the loss of Phil. He was a great guy and didn’t deserve to go out like that. But every moment of every day, I only think about Loki. Knowing that he’s here and that I could possibly talk to him because he intrigues me so much. I looked up to him growing up. He was my favorite of all the Gods. I’m curious. I want to try and figure out some stuff about him and also about myself. I walk to the dungeon.

“Look who we have here,” Loki said smiling

I grab a chair and sit outside the cell

“Does your Father know you’re here? Won’t he be worried I might corrupt you?” Loki said

“He doesn’t know I’m here,” I said

“A rebel. I like that.” Loki said

“You intrigue me. I want to know why you’re here.” I said pointing to the cell

“You know damn well why I’m here. You put me here.” Loki said

“I’m not talking about physically, I’m talking mentally. What pushed you over the edge? And how did you get to the edge in the first place?” I said

“Quit acting like you care about me? You don’t care. No one cares.” Loki said

“Actually I do. Even for people who try to commit mass genocide.” I said

“So your here to help me,” Loki said

“No,” I said

Loki looks shocked by this answer then laughs.

“That was not the answer I was expecting from you. Why are you here then?” Loki said

“I just want to talk. Get to know the real Loki, not the one they talk about in all these books and stories I’ve heard. Because I know there has to be another side to these stories.” I said

“Fair enough. You know you’re the first person to actually do that. No one’s ever cared about my side or what I have to say.” Loki said

“Why do you want power so much?” I asked

“Who doesn’t? Don’t you?” Loki said

I am silent. Loki smiles

“Oh…So that’s why you’re here.” Loki said

“Why is that?” I said

“All of those years that you were worshiped like a God. Praised by the mortals. Given anything that you wanted. Only to be swept under the rug. Forgotten. You want that power again, don’t you? ” Loki said

I put my head down.

“You do…you enjoyed that power, didn’t you?” Loki said

I look up

“Of course,” I said smiling

Loki smiles back

*Weeks Later*

I am training again with Sif. We are training in grappling. We are rolling around on the ground. Sif puts me in a headlock. I kick up off the ground and hip toss Sif onto the ground and straddle her, holding her hands down. We both laugh.

“That was a good one,” Sif said

I stare her into her eyes. Sif is so beautiful. Our faces are inches apart.

“Thanks,” I said smiling

“You have your Fathers eyes,” Sif said

The smile disappears. That defiantly killed the mood.

“Thanks,” I said

Thor comes barging in. He pauses because he felt like he was barging in on something he shouldn’t have.

“Uh, Runa, come with me, I would like to show you something,” Thor said

“Sure,” I said

We start walking through the woods. Then we stop. Thor is looking at me smiling. Happy with what he’s showing me.

“What’s this?” I asked

“What’s this?” Thor said surprised

“That’s Urðarbrunnr,” Thor said

“Oh, …it’s just …less grand than I thought it would be,” I said

“Yes…That may be my fault. I might have oversold it to your people.” Thor said

We both laugh.

“So what do you think of our new friends on Earth?” Thor asked

“Huh… where do I start? Stark is…Stark. Egotistical narcissistic maniac. Banner good guy, just don’t make him angry. Nat and Clint. Typical spies.” I said

“What about Captain Rogers?” Thor said

“Seems like a stand-up guy,” I said

‘I thought so too.” Thor said

Thor looks at me.

“I see the way he looks at you. He looks like a man in love. How can I blame him? You’re a very beautiful woman. My gene pool is very strong. I wouldn’t mind having him as a son-in-law.” Thor said

I laugh.

“Son-in-law? I’ve only known the guy for 48 hours. Relationships on earth are hard when everyone ages but you.” I said

“What’s wrong with love at first sight. I’ve only known Jane for about 48 hours. I feel in love with your mother in about the same time. I’m a lover, not a …well I am also a fighter too.” Thor said

I laugh.

“So, Sif then?” Thor said

“What?” I said

“I also see the way you look at her,” Thor said

I put my head down.

“Well, if you see the way I look at her, then you should also see the way she looks at you,” I said

“Sif is like a Sister to me, nothing more,” Thor said

“You should tell that to her. I’ve been around long enough to know when someone is not interested in me… So, your wanting to go back to Earth?” I asked

“Yes, once the Bifrost is complete, we can join our new friends and protect Midgard. I can be with Jane and maybe Captain Rogers can try to win your affection.” Thor said

I do not want to go back to Midgard. I am done with that shithole. I am on to bigger and better things. But I have to keep my motives hidden, so I lie to Thor.

“Yea, I’ve been wanting to return to Midgard as well,” I said to Thor

*November 11, 2013*

I am in the dungeon talking to Loki again. I have talked with him every day for over a year. I bring him actual food and not the shit they feed him. And I don’t understand why he gets a bad rap.He is just misunderstood like me. We just want what is rightfully ours. I burst into dungeon upset.

“I’m tired of this shit. I didn’t get any respect on Midgard and I don’t get any respect here.” I said

“Let me guess your Father…” Loki said before I interrupted him

“Thor, he’s being an asshole. The nine realms are in chaos and he won’t let me fight.” I said

“It’s because he’s afraid of who you can become. He knows that you are more powerful than him. With that stupid hammer. Without it, Thor is nothing, you have true power. He doesn’t want to fuel you.” Loki said

“Do you think he knows?” I asked

“Knows what?” Loki said

“Who I really am? What my intentions are? Is that why he is trying to feed me this bullshit of reading books and going to these stupid classes about Asgard. I think he’s trying to hold me back.” I said

“Hold you back, yes. Because you intimidate him. But does he know your true intention, God no. Thor is as stupid as a sack of rocks. Also, I’ve been wondering, how are you getting past the guards to get down here. I mean you’re here almost every day, are you using some type of cloaking device?” Loki said

“Wait a minute, is there some type of cloaking device I could be using. I’ve just been using these.” I said pointing to my breast

“I push em up, flirt. Make them think they have a chance with me. It’s like there in some type of trance.” I said

“How can you blame them. I mean look at you. I’m in a trance as well.” Loki said

I start to blush. It’s been a while since I felt this way about someone. It's weird. With Sif its purely sexual because I mean look at her she is strong, powerful, smart and beautiful, but I know I’ll never be able to have her, but with Loki, it’s not just this sexual tension we have going on, but we actually connect mentally. We’re on the same page. We get each other.

“Well, do they have a chance?” Loki said

“No chance in hell,” I said

“Do I?” Loki said

I paused to think.

“Well…your chances would be high if you weren’t in there,” I said smiling, pulling a Sharon Stone from Basic Instinct

“Well, that was very cruel of you. Isn’t this how you made your millions on Midgard anyway, Lust. You’re a master of seduction. Making men lust over you so you can take everything they own. Marrying the rich and old. You would give them a little zap of electricity causing them to have heart attacks. And you would have your women on the side, of course. You must have been living the life. I’m actually quite jealous” Loki said

My smile soon fades

"Wait, how do you know about that? I never told you that." I said

Loki realizes he said too much then he comes clean.

"I've watched you for a while. I saw you that first day you discovered your abilities. That day you were going to kill that kid. That's when I knew you were not like you Father. That you were something entirely different.

“How did you know about me? Did Thor know?” I asked

“Yes, of course, he knew. Did he tell you he didn’t know about you? Your mother was well into her pregnancy when we both left from Midgard. He knew he had a child. He chose to leave.” Loki said

“He said he came back, but it was too late. That my Mother was dead and he didn’t know about me. Why did you two return to Asgard?” I asked

“We returned to Asgard because your Father wanted to run from his problems. If he really wanted to know where you were all he had to do was ask Heimdall. He never did.” Loki said

I am silent. So those bullies were right. My Father didn’t want me. A tear runs down my face. All those years my Mother lied to me. Or did she even know the real reason he left.

“But you did…You went to Heimdall.” I asked

“Yes,” Loki said

“I’m sorry your Father is not what you thought,” Loki said

“He’s not my Father, he never was. He didn’t want me, that’s his problem. Why did you watch me? Why did you care?” I asked

“Because I knew you were special. You said I intrigue you, well, you intrigue me. I am actually quite impressed that you are able to keep up this facade for so long, especially from Frigga. She finds out everything. Everyone sees you as this pure and innocent little girl. They don’t know your dark side like I do. I may be the God of Mischief, but you my darling, are the Goddess of Deception. You have killed hundreds if not thousands of people over the years. Rather it be in self-defense, war or cold-blooded murder. You are hungry for power. You feel it within your grasp, but you don’t know how to get it. And I think you’re coming down here for help. You need me. That’s why you’re coming down here trying to seduce me. Your trying to have me wrapped around your little finger just like everyone else. But don’t worry your secrets safe with me.” Loki said smiling

“Well, since you clearly know everything, what’s your play?” I said

“You have anger and hate inside of you and you try to hide it. You have this craving for power that you can never quench. I know this because I have the same feeling. We both have incomprehensible pain and darkness inside of us. You just haven’t let yours out yet. You are more powerful than you think. You are more powerful than any Asgardian before you. Your Father, Odin, everyone. You hold back because you are afraid. You need to stop being afraid. We were both wronged. Pushed to the side and lied too. But together we can get the power we deserve. The praise we deserve. We can rule not only Asgard and the nine realms, but we can take on the whole galaxy. You are what I have been looking for. You are the key to this whole thing working. I need you just as much as you need me. If you could just let me out of this cage we can rule together. Side by side.” Loki said

I am very tempted. But I know Loki is not to be trusted.

“If I let you out, we will rule side by side. Equal power. No bullshit. And if you try to screw me over with your little tricks, unlike Thor, I’ll put your head on a stick next to my throne as a trophy, you understand” I said

“I know you would. It’s a great incentive to keep my word. So, do you have a plan?” Loki said

“Well, part one of my plan was to get you on my side so…Check.” I said

“Like I said, Goddess of deception,” Loki said

“The second part of my plan was to steal the Tesseract and use it to travel the cosmos and try to take over one planet at a time,” I said

“Wow, that’s bold even by my standards,” Loki said

“I'm not fucking around. I've been fucking around for 1300 years. This may be my only chance. Do you have any other ideas?” I asked

Loki paused

“No, that sounds good,” Loki said

A guard runs in

“Runa, your Father is looking for you in the palace.” He said

“Ok, I’ll be right up,” I said getting up from the chair

“Give me some time to get things in order. I’ll figure out a way to get the Tesseract and then free you. It shouldn’t be much longer” I said walking out

“I’ve got to know ...do I really?” Loki said

“Do you really what?” I asked

“Have a chance or was all that part of your act,” Loki said

“I never said it was an act. You said that, I just let you believe it.” I said

“Again with the deception,” Loki said smiling

I walk out to the palace and find Thor.

“Hey, heard you were looking for me,” I said to Thor

“Yes, where were you?” Thor asked

“I was in the marketplace,” I said

“Marketplace? What were you doing there?” Thor said

“Just walking around looking at all the cool stuff people make,” I said

“I’m glad you're enjoying and learning about your culture,” Thor said

“Yes, I would also like to learn about some of the relics in Odin’s vault. I read about the Tablet of Life and Time and The Eternal Flame. I’d like to see them one day” I said

“Aw yes, I’m glad your enjoying your books as well. We can defiantly take a trip to the vaults.” Thor said

I smile. One step closer to obtaining the Tesseract. We walk up to Odin who is standing on a balcony watching a group of Asgardians training for battle.

“Is Vanaheim secure?” Odin asked

“As are Nornheim and Ria. But our work would have gone more quickly with you at the fore.” Thor said

“You must think I’m a piece of bread, that needs to be buttered so heavily,” Odin said

“That was not my intent,” Thor said

“For the first time since the Bifrost was destroyed, the Nine Realms are at peace. We are well reminded of our strength and you have earned their respect and my gratitude.” Odin said

“Thank you,” Thor said

“Nothing out of order except your confused and distracted heart,” Odin said

“This isn’t about Jane Foster, Father,” Thor said

“I’m sorry to say this in front of you, Runa, but Human lives are fleeting. They’re nothing. You’ll be better served by what lies in front of you.” Odin said looking to Lady Sif

“I’m telling you this not at the All-father, but as your Father. You are ready. The time has come to take the Throne. Embrace it and celebrate what you have won. Join your warriors, eat and drink. Revel in their celebration. At least pretend to enjoy yourself.” Odin said walking away.

There is a party later that night. Everyone is drinking and having a great time. Thor is depressed, he misses Jane and I’m just focused on executing my plan. Thor left the party early and so did I. I don’t know where he went I just know I went to bed. A little while later I am woken up by Thor.

“We have to go to Midgard,” Thor said

“What?” I said yawning

“It’s Jane. Heimdall cannot see her. Something is wrong.” Thor said

“And you need me to go with you for that,” I said

I could see Thor’s face change to confused

“What?” Thor said

“Well, you didn’t ask for my help before, so I don’t know why you want me to go to Midgard to help your girlfriend. Like Odin said, human lives are fleeting.” I said

“I’m sorry you feel that way…” Thor said walking out

“Shit,” I said getting dressed then running after Thor.

I just fucked up. I still need everyone to think I’m still this innocent girl, at least till I’m on the throne.

“I’m sorry, I was just upset. I felt left out during the whole nine realms in chaos stuff. I didn’t mean it.” I said

“I forgive you. I understand being young and having all this power and not knowing what to do with it. Being hot-headed. It's hard. Especially for you. Being thrust into this crazy world. I'm sorry that this burden has fallen upon you.” Thor said

I pause for a second. This is the first time Thor has given me any sort of Fatherly advice. I don’t know how to feel. I just found out that Thor knew about me and left me on Midgard anyways, even though I hate his guts for that, there’s still a part of me who wants him to be my father. It’s going to be hard to kill him when the time comes.

“I still have a lot to learn. Off to Midgard I guess.” I said
