Goddess of Deception
Treason
Thor and I wait in a bar for Heimdall to meet us. Heimdall walks in.
“You were not at Odin's war council,” Thor said to Heimdall
“The Bifrost is closed by your father's orders. No one is to come or to go. We face an enemy that is invisible even to me. What use is a guardian such as that?” Heimdall said
“I cannot overrule my king's wishes. Not even for you.” Heimdall said
“I'm not asking you to. The realms need their All-father strong and unchallenged whether he is or not. But he is blinded, Heimdall by hatred and by grief.” Thor said
“As are we all,” Heimdall said
“I see clearly enough,” Thor said
“The risks are too great,” Heimdall said
“Everything we do from here on is a risk. There is no other way.” Thor said
“Heimdall we have to take the fight out of Asgard or we will be attending many more funerals,” I said
“What do you require of me'?” Heimdall asked
“What I'm about to ask of you is treason of the highest order. Success will bring us exile and failure shall mean our death. Malekith knew the Aether was here. He can sense its power. If we do nothing, he will come for it again but this time, lay waste to all of Asgard. We must move Jane off-world.” We tell Heimdall
He agrees. We then meet With Lady Sif and the Warriors three and tell them our plan.
“The Bifrost has been shut down and the Tesseract locked away in the vault. How are we supposed to get off world?” Sif said
“There are other paths off Asgard. Ways known only to a few. One, actually.” Thor said
“No,” Volstagg said
“Wait, you didn’t tell me about this part. You’re going to let Loki out.” I said to Thor
“Yes,” Thor said
“He will betray you,” Fandral said
“He will try,” Thor said
“Well, what then? Your lovely mortal is being guarded by a legion of Einherjar who will see you coming from miles away.” Fandral said
“I won't be the one who comes for her,” Thor said looking at Sif
“And what of the All-father? It is my sworn duty to notify him of crimes against the throne.” Heimdall said
“And you’ll do just that, to distract Odin,” I said
“Assuming you can get Loki's help and you can free this mortal what good would it do? We'd all be dead the minute we step one foot outside the palace.” Volstagg said
“That, my friend, is why we won't be leaving by foot,” Thor said
“We’re leaving in one of the Dark Elves ships. They are faster and stealthier than any Asgardian ship.” I said
Thor and I go to the dungeons to talk to Loki. We walk up to his cell. Loki’s eyes meet mine first, then Thor’s.
“Thor. After all this time and now you come to visit me. Why? Have you come to gloat? To mock'?” Loki said to Thor
“Loki, enough. No more illusions.” Thor said
Loki’s apparition disappears and the real Loki is revealed. Distraught and disheveled, sitting on the floor. His cell is torn to pieces. Loki looks at me ashamed of how I’m seeing him. This is the Loki I know. He cared so deeply for Frigga. Even though she wasn’t his real mother, he loved her as such.
“Now you see me, brother. Did she suffer'?” Loki asked
“I did not come here to share our grief. Instead, I offer you the chance of a far richer sacrament.” Thor said
“Go on,” Loki said looking at me instead of Thor
“I know you seek vengeance as much as I do. You help me escape Asgard and I will grant it to you. Vengeance and afterward, this cell.” Thor said
Loki laughs
“You must be truly desperate to come to me for help. What makes you think you can trust me?” Loki said
“I don't. Mother did. But you should know that when we fought each other in the past, I did so with a glimmer of hope that my brother was still in there somewhere. That hope no longer exists to protect you. You betray me, and I will kill you.” Thor said
"Hmm. That sounds familiar. When do we start?" Loki said looking at me
Thor goes to unlock the cell. The windows that once locked Loki in the cell now disappear. Loki stands up and walks out."I'll get your clothes out of the armory," Thor said
Loki and I stand face to face for the first time since New York.
"I'm sorry about Frigga...I was too late...She was already gone." I said
"It's not your fault. It's Thor's fault for bringing his pig to Asgard. Do you have the Tesseract?" Loki asked
“No. Odin locked everything down after the attack. There’s no way I’m getting in there anytime soon. We just have to defeat Malekith and see where the dice land.” I said
"And what's that?" I said
Before Loki could say his plan we see Thor round the corner With Loki’s clothes.
“I’ll tell you later,” Loki said
Thor hands Loki his clothes. Loki changes into his clothes and we walk out of the dungeon.
“This is so unlike you, brother. So clandestine. Are you sure you wouldn't rather just punch your way out'?” Loki said
“If you keep speaking, I just might,” Thor said
“Fine. As you wish. I'm not even here. Is this better?” Loki said using magic to alter his appearance to look like an Asgardian soldier.
“It's better company at least,” Thor said
“Still, we could be less conspicuous. Mmm, brother, you look ravishing. You Runa, not so much.” Loki said turning back into himself and turning Thor into Lady Sif and myself into Volstagg
“It will hurt no less when I kill you in this form,” Thor said
“Very well. Perhaps you prefer one of your new companions given that you seem to like them so much.” Loki said turning us both back into our selves and turning himself into Captain America
“Oh, this is much better. Ooh. The costume is a bit much. So tight. But the confidence... I can feel the righteousness surging. Hey, do you want to have a rousing discussion about truth?Honor? Patriotism? God bless Amer...” Loki said before I cut him off covering his mouth pushing him against a column.
“What?” Loki said
“Chill the fuck out,” I said looking over Loki’s shoulder.
Loki turns around to see two guards walk by.
“You could at least furnish me with a weapon. My dagger, something.” Loki said
Thor digs into his cloak.
“At last. A little common sense.” Loki said
But instead of a dagger, Thor handcuffs Loki’s hands together.
“Really,” Loki said raising his hands up
“And I thought you liked tricks,” Thor said walking away
I stay behind with Loki.
“Just walk,” I said to Loki.
We are waiting for Lady Sif to arrive with Jane. We see them walking down the hall.
“You're...” Jane said pointing at Loki
“I'm Loki, you may have heard of me,” Loki said
Jane slaps him
“That was for New York,” Jane said
“I like her,” Loki said
A group of guards are walking towards us.
“Shit,” I said going to grab my sword.
“I’ll hold them off. Take her” Sif said
“No,” I said
“Thank you” Thor said
We walk away to meet with Volstagg at the crashed Dark Elves ship.
“I will give you as much time as I can,” Volstagg said
“Thank you, my friend,” Thor said to Volstagg
We enter the ship. Thor starts pressing buttons.
“I thought you said you knew how to fly this thing,” I said
“I said, "How hard could it be?" Thor said
“Well, whatever you're doing, brother, I suggest you do it faster,” Loki said
“Shut up, Loki,” Thor said
“You must have missed something,” Loki said
“No, I didn't. I'm pressing every button on this thing.” Thor said
“I'm pressing it gently, it's not working!” Thor said hitting the buttons harder
The ship powers up.
“Ha, ha!” Thor said
We have lift off. Thor is turning the ship around in the palace taking out almost every column.
“I think you missed a column,” Loki said
“Shut up,” Thor said
We fly out of the palace and into the city
“why don't you let me take over? I'm clearly the better pilot.” Loki said to Thor
“Is that right? Well, out of the two of us, which one can actually fly?” Thor said
We are flipping and zipping around the city. Jane falls down.
“Is she dead?” I said
“Jane” Thor said
“I'm okay,” Jane said laying on the floor
“Now they're following us,” Loki said as Asgardian ships start to follow us
“Now they're firing at us,” I said as the Asgardian ships start to fire at us
“Yeah, thank you for the commentary, Runa, it's not at all distracting!” Thor said
We are zipping around trying to avoid the Asgardian ships and Thor hits a statue of Bor.
“You know, this is wonderful. This is a tremendous idea. Let's steal the biggest, most obvious ship in the universe and escape in that. Flying around the city, smashing into everything in sight so everyone can see us. It's brilliant, Thor! It's truly brilliant!” Loki said
I am standing next to the door when it opens. I turn to look at Thor and that’s when he pushes Loki into me and out the door. I am falling through the air and land on my back in an Asgardian ship. I open my eyes to see Loki falling through the air coming straight for me.
"Shit," I said
Loki lands on top of me. His hands still cuffed, he places his hands on my chest to push himself up
"I like this position," Loki said
“I see your time in the dungeons has made you no less graceful, Loki,” Fandral said piloting the ship
“Get off of me,” I said as I push Loki off of me.
Is he crazy saying that? He could have blown our cover. Thor lands holding Jane. I get up.
“What the fuck is wrong with you? You didn’t tell me about this part. I could have died, you know. You don’t just push people out of a moving vehicle.” I yelled at Thor
“You lied to us. I'm impressed.” Loki said
“I'm glad you're pleased. Now, do as you promised. And take us to your secret pathway.” Thor said
Loki starts to pilot the ship. Now we are being shot at again by another Asgardian ship.
“Fandral,” Thor said
“Right,” Fandral said grabbing a rope
“For Asgard,” Fandral said jumping off the ship.
With Loki flying the ship he is heading straight for a mountainside.
“Loki!” Thor yelled
“If it were easy everyone would do it,” Loki said
“Are you mad?” Thor said
We are about to hit the side of the mountain. I grab Loki’s arm. We enter a tunnel in the mountainside and are bouncing off the sides. Then I see flashes of color. Then darkness. We are now on another world. The Dark World. We made it. I look to Loki
“Good job,” I said looking at Loki
We smile at each other. I let go of his arm. I see Thor looking at me and Loki. I sit down. Thor continues to stare at Loki. I think he knows something is up. Loki continues to fly the ship. I sit across from Loki. Thor sits next to me.
“What I could do with the power that flows through those veins,” Loki said looking at Jane
“It would consume you,” Thor said
“She's holding up all right. For now.” Loki said
“She's strong in ways you'd never even know,” Thor said
“Saying goodbye,” Loki said
“Not this day,” Thor said
“This day, the next, a hundred years, it's nothing. It's a heartbeat. You'll never be ready. The only woman whose love you've prized will be snatched from you.” Loki said
“Loki,” I said trying to get him to shut up.
“And will that satisfy you'?” Thor said
“Satisfaction is not in my nature,” Loki said
“Surrender is not in mine,” Thor said
“The son of Odin...” Loki said mocking Thor
“No. Not just of Odin. You think you alone were loved of Mother'? You had her tricks, but I had her trust.” Thor said
“Trust? Was that her last expression? Trust? When you let her die'?” Loki said
At this point I just let them get this off there chest.
“What help were you in your cell?” Thor said
“Who put me there? Who put me there?” Loki said
‘You know damn well! You know damn well who!” Thor said grabbing Loki pushing him against the side of the ship getting ready to punch him
“Woah, Woah. Guys, chill out. Can we do this later because we’re about to fight a bunch of Dark Elves who are after an infinity stone trying to destroy the universe as we know it. Ok.” I said
“She wouldn't want us to fight,” Thor said backing up
“Well, she wouldn't exactly be shocked,” Loki said with a smirk
“I wish I could trust you,” Thor said walking away
“Trust my rage,” Loki said
“Yea, I don’t know about you guys, but I like to have a plan before I go into battle, so… Anything would help.” I said
“We need Malekith to take the Aether out of Jane so that I can destroy it and him,” Thor said
“That still tells me nothing,” I said
“We could put on an act. Runa and I could pretend to betray you, as I do. Hand Jane over to Malekith to take the Aether out of her. Then, once the Aether is out, you two could do a little lightning show.” Loki said
I look to Thor.
“That’s not half bad,” I said
“It’ll have to do,” Thor said
Jane wakes up and looks to the sky.
“Malekith,” Jane said
I look up and see the ship in the sky. Loki lands our ship. We walk out and see Malekith walking towards us.
“All right. Are you ready?” Thor said
“I am.” Both Loki and I said
“You know, this plan of yours is going to get us killed,” I told Loki
“Yes, possibly,” Loki said
“You still don't trust me, brother?” Loki said holding his hand up wanting Thor to uncuff him
“Would you?” Thor said undoing his cuffs
"No, I wouldn't," Loki said stabbing Thor
"Thor! No!" Jane yelled
Thor rolls down the side of the cliff. Loki and I follow.
“You really think I cared about Frigga'? About any of you? All I ever wanted was you and Odin dead at my feet!” Loki said standing over Thor cutting his hand off before he could grab Mjolnir.
“Malekith! I am Loki of Jotunheim, and I bring you a gift. I ask only one thing in return... A good seat from which to watch Asgard burn.” Loki said tossing Jane to Malekith.
“I saw him in the cells beneath the palace. He is an enemy to Asgard. And I saw her there talking to him. I believe they are working together to form a possible coup.” This giant creature said, the same creature that broke everyone out of their cells.
I look up with an ‘oh shit' look on my face.
“What?” Thor said laying on the ground.
I give an awkward nervous smile.
Malekith walks over to Thor and kicks him over on his back.
“Look at me,” Malekith said to Thor.
Malekith lifts Jane into the air. She is floating while Malekith pulls the Aether from her. This red liquid-like substance is clouding the air. Jane falls to the ground. She is free from the Aether.
“Loki Now!” Thor yelled.
Loki reveals Thor’s severed hand was just an illusion. Thor calls for Mjolnir and points to the Aether. I make a lightning rope wrap it all around the Aether trying to contain it. Loki covers Jane. Thor and I both send lighting through the Aether, but nothing is happening. I send the biggest lightning bolt I have ever created then an explosion. Then the dust settles. Thor and I look around. There are what look like red pieces of glass, millions of little pieces, floating, lifting off the ground. They all return to Malekith. He now possesses the power of the Aether.
“fuck…” I said
Malekith walks away sending some of his soldiers after us. Thor is tossing them left and right. I see a bomb being tossed towards Loki and Jane. Loki pushes Jane out of the way. Then the bomb goes off. But it's not a regular bomb. It created some type of black hole and Loki was being sucked into it.
“NO!” I yelled
I create a lightning rope and wrap it around Loki’s hand trying to stop him from being suck into the black hole. Then I am lifted off the ground and being sucked into the black hole as well. Then Thor flies in and hits Loki out of the way and I go flying with them. All three of us get up.
Thor looks to us.
"We need to talk after this," Thor said
Thor flies to stop Malekith from boarding his ship. Loki and I are back to back surrounded by Malekith's soldiers.
“Well, if we are going to conquer worlds together then this is something we should get used to,” Loki said
I laugh
“We aren’t going to be conquering many worlds if we let Malekith get away,” I said as Malekith ship disappears into the sky.
Loki and I start attacking the soldiers. I grab my swords from my back. I sweep one soldier's feet from under him and stab him in the chest when he hits the ground. A soldier tries to swing his sword at me. I roll out the way and slice his leg off then stomping his head in. I see a soldier approaching Loki from behind him.
“Behind you,” I said sending a lighting rope around that soldier neck, then tighten it breaking his neck.
Loki throws a dagger at me, I duck. I look at him like he’s crazy, then turn around to see a soldier with a knife in his head.
“Thanks,” I said walking over to Loki
There is one soldier left kneeling I place my swords in an x under his chin and decapitate him.
“Nothing like a good decapitation. Reminds me of old time.” I said smiling
We look over to see Thor getting his ass handed to him. Loki starts to run towards them. I make a lightning rope and grab onto the top of a rock formation and yank myself through the air and land in front of Thor right as a giant rock is being thrown. I duck and it hits Thor. I go to grab my swords, but the creature was already on me. It punches me in the face a few times. I send in a few gut punches and an uppercut. I jump up and kick it in the chest with both feet landing on my back. I kick up off the ground and the creature backhands me and I fly into the side of the mountain. I look up and see Loki behind the creature with a giant sword and he stabs the creature in the back. The creature turns around and grabs Loki pulling him into the sword as well.
“NO!” I yelled running over.
“See you in hell, monster,” Loki said to the creature as one of the black hole grenades goes off on the creature's belt.
The creature is pulled into the black hole. Loki lies on the ground. Thor runs over.
“No. No, no, no.” I said kneeling on the ground beside Loki.
Thor is holding him. Crying.
“Oh, you fool, you didn't listen,” Thor said
“I know...I'm a fool, I'm a fool,” Loki said
“Stay with me, okay?” I said to Loki
“I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.” Loki said grabbing my hand
“Shh... It's okay. It's all right. I'll tell Father what you did here today.” Thor said
Loki dies.
“No!” Thor yelled
Jane walks over. Thor continues to hold Loki crying. After a few minutes, Thor gets up and walks to Jane. I continue to kneel next to Loki.
“Oh the things we could have accomplished together, but you had to go get yourself killed,” I said putting my head down
Then I feel Loki’s hand move in mine. Then I am shown a vision. A vision of Loki and I on the throne of Asgard. Ruling together. With death and destrutcion behuind us. I smile. Loki is alive.
“Oh Loki, always full of surprises,” I said getting up and walking towards Jane and Thor
