Chapter 4
Stark mansion
It was Thursday Tony was in his lab working on his hot rod he didn't want to be up stairs with Pepper and Maria. It was still bothering him he wanted to know who the father was he was confuse to the point of no belief. He heard the lab door open and his music go off "You know how I feel when you touch my music," he said not looking up. Pepper rolled her eyes "You where suppose to be half way around the world," she said. "Funny it is my plane isn't it suppose to be waiting for me," Tony said Pepper sighed. "Alright I am going!" he said Pepper was holding back something when Tony was down in his lab all day she called Child Service.
Earlier that day
"Jarvis call Child Service for me," she said 'Right away ma'am,' he said "Also warn me when Tony is coming," she said. 'Yes miss Potts,' Jarvis said again "Hello Child Service," someone picked up "Hello I am Pepper Potts, Tony Stark's assist," "Oh hello Ms. Potts are you going to ask us to pick up the girl anytime earlier?" the person sounded rude. Pepper payed no mind to them "No I was asking if I can cancel that call Mister Stark changed his mind," she lied. "Oh well yes! Of course he can!" the person sounded happy after saying their goods byes and getting the paper work read to be send through email tony came up from the lab.
Present
Tony left to his company where his private jet was held "Remember Pepper she is leaving on Saturday I will be back in a week," he said and left. Pepper nodded but little did he know that Maria was here to stay. An also they where going to realize that Tony wasn't going to come back in a month.
2 years later
Tony was found when the plane cargo hold began to open he saw his black Bentley what else he saw was Pepper. Though what shocked him was a little girl in a red dress she also sported a black long sleeve turtle neck and black leggings with yellow poki-dots on them, her shoes where shiny gold Toms. Her hair was down it was wavy she was clutching Pepper's hand Rhodey was shocked too "You had a kid with Pepper!?" he whispered. "No!" Tony said they walked over to Pepper and the child Pepper looked to be crying when Tony got near her. "Crying tears for lose boss?" Tony said he looked down at the girl. She hid behind Pepper "No I'm crying because I can stop job hunting," she said. They all got into the car "Happy take us to the hospital," "No the first thing I am going to do is get a cheese burger Pepper call a pres-conference," Tony said the girl was sitting in her car seat between Tony and Pepper.
During the Pres-conference
"Mommy who is that man?" "He is my boss," Pepper said "He is weird," Pepper chuckled indeed he is weird. "Mommy why are all these people sitting on the floor and why is your boss sitting on the floor and eating?" Pepper smiled it has been two years and Maria is now two after Tony went missing a year ago. Maira has grown up without Tony in her life after he went missing it was all Pepper or in her words Mommy. When Maria called Pepper mommy it lite up Pepper's world but the world came with a bad Maria wasn't her's she was Tony. How Pepper wanted to tell Maria that Tony was her father and that she wasn't hers' but a big part of her didn't want too. Though in the two years that Tony has been missing Maria began to show interest in Tony's lab. She liked physics and engineering but she also like art Pepper thinks she gets it from her. Maria was good at drawing as well something that she didn't get from Tony or Pepper. Soon all the reports stood up in flash cameras where going off and people where asking questions Obidiah Stane was escorting Tony off the stage. This startled Maria she hugged Pepper's legs and closed her eyes the flashes from the camera where making her eyes hurt. "Miss Potts?" Pepper turned around and stopped a man in a black suit she had her left hand resting on Maria's head reassuring her everything is alright. "Yes if you are a reporter you just miss the pres-conference," she said "No I'm not a reporter I am Agent Phil Coulson I am from the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division," "Well we where already approached by the D.O.D, CIA, FBI, and Home Land security," Pepper said.
"Well we are difference division I was wondering if I can ask you a few questions or set up an appointment to talk," he asked. Tony was leaving and Pepper and Maria had to leave as well. "Yeah use the eleventh I am free," she said in a rush leaving with Maria in hands.
Phil also began to leave he pulled out his phone "I found the girl she does look like Stark lets hope she doesn't act like him," Phil shook his head and nodded. "She was raised I guess by Ms. Potts she seems very attached to her. Yes I will try and get her to agree to give the girl up but what if Stark gets involve?"
Stark Mansion
Pepper was upstairs she Maria was on the floor taking her nap ever since she was little she like taking her naps on the floor with Pepper close by. It gave her some comfort "Pepper how big are your hands?" Pepper looked started "Why do you want to know how big my hands are?" "I need you in the lab," Tony said. Pepper sighed "Jarvis," 'I will watch her Ms. Potts,' the AI said and Jarvis would do it either way he adored the girl. Especially when Pepper was running the company while Tony was gone. It was hard with Maria but Pepper made it work out taking her every where she went and Maria was nothing but an angel. Pepper sighed she got up and left for the lab.
Lab
"Why do you want my hands Tony?" she said Tony looked up at her "I want you too take out this and replace it with this one," he said. "Is that what's been keeping you alive?" she asked "Correction it was keeping me alive I am replacing it with this one. This model will keep me alive now it," he said. Pepper nodded "Everything will be okay Tony," she said.
