Thank You, My Friend

Rosemarie had extended our holiday for another week because of the whole ‘FC’ problem… Not a football club problem… that was Franklin’s name… Franklin O’Connor. Though since we started hanging out with him he told us to call him Frankie. We didn’t know much about him, well… I didn’t. But Rosemarie and Franklin were getting very close, I didn’t mind because its her choice who she runs off with… but seriously. He really doesn’t seem like her type, he’s black from head to toe… apart from his very pale white skin. Black hair, dark eyes, and I’ve never seen him in any other colour clothing so far apart from black. But luckily the guy doesn't wear make-up… else there would be awkward talks. I just don’t understand why some men wear make-up… its silly.

Enough on my opinions though, I am currently sitting in a café with a white chocolate mocha in front of me looking out the window waiting to find a blue van on the street to put a tracker on it. Rosemarie was on the street with the device in hand. I was at one end of the street and Franklin was at the other. We had small devices in our ears to communicate with each other. I wasn’t ready for this at all… I really wasn’t…

“I see the van guys… its on your side of the road Winter’s.” Franklin spoke; we decided to use our surnames instead of first names to communicate.
“Got it O’Connor.” Rosemarie replied as I noticed the van on the opposite side. Rosemarie was covered up and wearing a brown wig to hide her ginger hair so nobody noticed her as she walked past the van and snuck the device under the wheel cover.

Smoothly crossing the road she walked into the café and sat opposite me and smirked as she then smiled and looked over my face,
“That was fun and easy.” Rosemarie spoke,
“You have done that before though.” I replied as I lifted my drink and tasted the sweet coffee at my lips. Rosemarie smirked as she looked out the window and the van drove off again.

I pulled out the earpiece and looked at Rosemarie,
“Are you sure about this?” I asked, she looked at me with confusion and frowned. I looked down at the table, “I… I’m worried, what if we get found out?” I asked and looked up at Rosemarie as she smiled,
“I remember a young woman, she was thirteen… so bright and full of life. She told me she wanted to make a difference in the world like her Grandfather and make a better future for the young people.” Rosemarie spoke as I blinked a few times remembering the day I said that. I had been picked on by a few of the meaner girls and I was fed up of being bullied so I said I would make a difference for the better people of the world and protect those weaker from the bullies.

I still wanted to do that… I just needed the confidence now. I looked up at Rosemarie and shook my head as I chuckled,
“I hate you sometimes.” I muttered,
“Well I’m just trying to boost you. Come on. Frankie is tracking it now, he said he was gonna put a shadow under it as well just in case anything happened… though I think he’s gone as the shadow instead.” Rosemarie explained, as she stood up. I frowned and closed my eyes, he was being reckless… going in by himself trying to track Maria… seeing what she was planning next.

Rosemarie and myself left the café and we followed Franklin’s signal to a group of warehouses. We found the van and Franklin appeared under it and climbed up through the shadows he could. It was evening and the sun was setting so there were plenty of shadows for him to move through.

“Maria was in that van, she was speaking of another bank robbery. I heard and recorded everything.” Franklin spoke with the recorder he had on his phone and played the conversation to us again,
“When will the next robbery take place?” Rosemarie asked,
“London… next week.” Franklin spoke,
“She’s going to get a group of people to steal from London next week?” I asked and Franklin nodded.

I clenched my fist and taken a deep breath and looked between Rosemarie and Franklin,
“I’ll go to the bank and stop the robbery, Franklin you need to stay here and make sure Maria doesn’t make a run for it and you’ve got the proof to make sure that she gets sent to jail and I’ll back you up. We’ve even got Rosemarie’s tracker to help us along. Rosemarie, if you can get Franklin some other gadgets so he can track more movements of Maria’s plan and see if he can gather more evidence on her. We’ll go back to London and stop this attack from happening and protect the people of London.” I explained, Rosemarie smirked and then nodded, Franklin didn’t disagree with the plan as he nodded and looked to Rosemarie.

“Let’s do this.” Rosemarie smirked as she looked between Franklin and myself, “Making an unlikely alliance.” Rosemarie chuckled,
“Unlikely?” Franklin asked,
“Well… two mutants and a rich detective…” Rosemarie chuckled; I just smiled and looked to the warehouse.
“Let’s get out of here before we are seen. Myself and Rosemarie will head back to London tomorrow and she’ll send you the things you need as soon as possible and it will get to you on the day.” I explained, the two agreed and we left the scene quickly and quietly.

The next day, at early morning when the sun just hit the horizon Rosemarie and myself flew back to England and landed in London in just under an hour. We made it back to her office and she started to get the devices together to send back to Franklin to keep him busy on tracking Maria and making sure she stayed in Dublin. Rosemarie picked up her phone and called for a delivery van to take the box with the gadgets to the airport and get it delivered.

“No. This is going to reach the man this is aimed for today and no later then midnight else you are fired. This is for the future of mankind. And if you disobey me pilot I will fire you.” Rosemarie snapped down the phone to a disobedient pilot complaining about not being able to get to Ireland in such a short space of time now. “Get clearance and get flying now!” Rosemarie put the phone down and then sent a few emails and the box was picked up and taken away from us both.

I looked to Rosemarie from the glass window. Her office was very well lit due to the massive windows from the ceiling to the ground, the office was coloured nicely in white and different shades of purple across the room. They were her favourite colours. The office was clean and there was not a spec of dirt anywhere to be seen. It’s hard to believe that my best friend was known as the Youngest Most Brilliant Detective in the world. Having figuring out her old boss was selling to the wrong people and proved all this to the world and then becoming C.E.O. on her own? I guess its easy to figure out why Franklin approached us so easily now… knowing that Rosemarie being as smart as she is would be able to figure out what was going on and how to deal with it. But it was me who come up with the plan and chosen what route to take… I guess after many years of hanging out together she’s rubbed a bit off on me.

“Precious…” Rosemarie spoke, I looked to her with a blank face, not wanting to show any emotion, “Are you okay with this plan?” Rosemarie asked; she looked serious, Rosemarie didn’t doubt my abilities; she just knew what could happen with it.
“I am fine with it. I come up with it.” I spoke as I looked back out of the window with my hands fiddling together not really doing anything of use but showing slight doubt.
“If you do stop the robbery you’ll have to use your powers and that means revealing who you are…” Rosemarie spoke, I didn’t reply… I was as silent as the desert. Looking down at my black court heels my copper hair fell over my shoulder as I thought about it. I wanted to do this… this is what I had wanted since my Grandfather told me of his stories in the war. How he told me about Captain America and helping him fight the good fight. I was a fighter like my Grandfather, my mother and my father. They had their own causes to fight for. And I have mine.

I turned towards Rosemarie, a slight frown on my face showing determination as my emerald eyes met her sapphire ones.
“I am prepared to do this Rosemarie, I have the power. I should use it to help people and protect them from the people who want to ruin this world. I will not stand idly by while a child or even an entire family gets killed. I will not run from horrors such as this. My powers were given to me for a reason and I will do my damned hardest to prove to the world that not all mutants are bad. I want to help people… and I will.” I spoke, my words felt like they were spurring me on. They were keeping my confidence high and the more I spoke the more confident I felt… I knew I could do this! I had the power… I just had to make sure I used it correctly and not hurt anybody but the robbers.

Rosemarie just smirked at me and it soon turned into a smile,
“You’re Grandfather will be proud of you when you do this, your parents will be too. I know it.” Rosemarie explained, “And if all goes sour I’ll be by your side to support you as the C.E.O. of Winter Corp, and more importantly… as a friend.” Rosemarie walked over to me, our heights being so dramatically different because of my heels I was looking down at her with a smile as she looked up at me.
“Thank you, my friend.” I spoke Rosemarie nodded as I pulled her into a hug. “I really mean it. You’ve done a lot for me and I owe you my life for all the help and troubles you have pulled me through over the years. I couldn’t have survived without you.” I spoke as Rosemarie moved her arms around my own body.
“It’s okay… but I do ask one thing…” Rosemarie spoke, as I frowned in confusion, “Let me go. My face is in your boobs and I prefer cock to tits thanks.” Rosemarie spoke as I laughed and let her go.
“Sorry… I know you ain’t no lesbian.” I grinned at her,
“I am not. I prefer a long hard rod to a pair of soft cushions.” Rosemarie chuckled as I shook my head,
“Sex devil.” I muttered as Rosemarie punched my arm and I laughed and winced at the same time.

Seriously… I could never hate Rosemarie.
