Loki Laufeyson And The Little Lost One
"Kaaane! Time to get up!" Kane rolled over and laughed at her mom's voice. Her mom, Alexandra, was always so peppy in the mornings. "Wait, wait, wait! It's Saturday. Stay in bed!!" Kane laughed again. Today was special... What was it? It was... It was... Her birthday!! She sat up quickly, remembering. She was turning 15, something she had been wanting for a while. She didn't know why, but 15 was special to her. She laid back, feeling sleepy again. She would figure it out later... —————— Kane woke to a tapping at her door. She opened her eyes blearily and called, "Come in." Her mom opened the door, her blue eyes sparkling and blonde hair bouncing. Kane looked nothing like her parents, both of them having blonde hair and brown eyes, while she had black hair and green eyes. Being handicapped was also another thing. Kane had been in New York when it was attacked and the car she was in flipped, paralyzing her from the waist down. It was hard, but she made do. She had learned how to move around and get places by herself. Her parents had installed a motorized ramp for her to get upstairs and down. Anyway, her mom had a twinkle in her eye, but not just her normal one. "Come on downstairs, hon. Your dad and I have a surprise!" Kane smiled and nodded. She grabbed the Avengers shirt her mom had gotten her during the summer. Kane's birthday was October 31st. An odd birthday, but she liked the date. She threw on a different pair of jeans and went down stairs. When she got there, her mom and dad had set up a forest-hunter green cake with black and gold trimmings and a small pile of presents. "Oh, mom, dad, I love it! Especially the cake, it's so beautiful!" Kane could barely contain her excitement. Her parents hugged her simultaneously, and her mom said, "Guess where we're going!" ———————— Later, Kane went up to her room and sighed. Even though it had been a long day, she was happy, and she didn't want it to end. Of course, she didn't mind spending time with her parents. She may have been adopted, but Kane believed family was earned. It wasn't some privilege. You had to prove yourself. And Kane's parents had certainly done that. She slipped into a soft pair of pj's and hoisted her self into bed. Just as she closed her eyes was when the screams started.
